A Thanksgiving request.
For those who do not know already I have been working over here in Afghanistan for over a year now. I know it is not the highly publicized Iraq but there is still a war going over here with the Taliban, who started this mess including 911. I work along side of many other US and International forces. I have lost friends and seen many things that I wish all Americans could see. Because if they did they would believe in why we are here and teach their children the truth. I do not know what you politics are and I really do not care, that is your opinion, but I do care for the guys and gals that I serve with. So on this Thanksgiving when you are gathered around at you homes or where ever you maybe, and the turkey and goodies a smelling so great, just remember the guys and gals who are over here both in Afghanistan and Iraq. Most of us are over here not because we wanted to be but because we were asked to serve and serving we are. Take time when you say your grace to mention us and then enjoy your Thanksgiving. Because I know that I and my fellow soldiers are thinking of our homes and families and our country and we know why we are here and that is to serve you.
Bless you all and Happy Thanksgiving.

Re: A Thanksgiving request.
Having served in the military myself, I know what its like, not being with your friends & family, losing friends. The sacrifices you are making is something that few can understand without going through it themselves. I have no greater respect for anyone, than I do for you & everyone else over there, doing all the dirty, & unpleasant work necessary, so we can live freely, without the fear of being killed by our own Government. You will lways have my greatest respect, Godspeed to you & all over there.

Re: A Thanksgiving request.
It's not just American soldiers over there, there are British soldiers to, and possibly soldiers of other nations, although I'm not sure if - or how many.
The point being that people of Afghani, US, UK and other nationalities are dying in Afghanistan. And people dying is a BAD thing, I don't give a shit what your politics are, so lets all hope that the whole idea of killing people goes out af fashion really soon, k? fuck revenge, fuck justice, if we all stop the killing right now - what's the difference?

Re: A Thanksgiving request.
Hey Hapataria, I was not making a political statement. I just wanted all to remember all forces on Thanksgiving. I served in Vietnam and now here in Afghanistan. I am proud to serve. Somewhere along the line I think you forgot 911 and the other terrorist attacks on the world. If you ever served in the military you would understand that. You are surely welcome to your opinion but so are we. We are not over here to kill, but to stop and evil from coming to our homes and killing us. Please understand killing is a not glorious or fun and if you have been involve with it. it will haunt you the rest of your life. But as an American I will do my best to help stop anyone who would try and destroy out way of life and Thanksgiving is part of that.

Please Hapataria understand , I also wish all killing would stop but somehow I do not think it will happen in our lifetimes. But we can hope and pray. I hope you have a great holiday season.

Have to agree with you Hap, but the soldiers on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan still need our support (no matter what nation they come from). One day maybe the politicians will wake up and realise that MIGHT never achieves anything of any value, but don't hold your breath!

Re: A Thanksgiving request.
I pray for our troops and everyone serving in Iraq and elsewhere in that part of the world. I am very aware that the media here is purposly showing everything bad they can.
I wish you and everyone there the best and Happy Thankgiving. :D

Re: A Thanksgiving request.
My family prays daily for our troups. We have friends and family who have served in Iraq. My family will be welcoming a new member in January when my niece marries a young army man. We are graced by those that serve and are very thankful for the job they are doing. Love to our troops and all the other countries that serve along side of us!
