Forum Newbie
I am new to all of this, but i find it extremely fun.....my problem is that i think moderators, while doing ther jobs, do not allow enough latitude forpeopletohave fun in the threads.....i have seen it written where "chat" is a good place to flirt, stray off topic, etc.....but, other than NRG (who is good in chat), everyone that i've met in chat, is looking to cyber.........perhaps i'm in the wrong chatroom, but when the Tin Star wearing moderators come in the threads claiming off-topic, it kinda ruins the fun, doesn't? the whole point of the site is to have fun....quit taking yourselves so seriously and have some....
Ive been on this site for about 10 days, and thats about how many people post here, so im sure i'll get blasted, but its ok.....lemme have it

Re: Forum Newbie
If hijacking a thread is fun for a few, it's not fun for the rest who are interested in the topic.

Here's an example, I want to know how to improve WN and I post a thread about it. Then two members 'join' my thread talking about how hot each other is, completely out of the topic. I would be pissed and I am sure if it was your thread, you'd be pissed too.

That's why the mods try to keep the threads stick to the topic.

As for the chatroom, it's a common thing to be asked to cyber. Just say NO and move on.

I hope this makes sense.

Re: Forum Newbie
Maybe there should be a general chat thread (sticky topic), that could go in any direction we wanted it to (except for graphic CyberSex and contact information).

This might encourage members to post to some of the other threads, in time.

You could clear it down every month and carry forward the last ten post. Just thinking out loud, there could be technical reasons why this isn't possible.

Re: Forum Newbie
I'm guilty of the going off topic thing and for anyone who is offended I apologize. I also posts and it really doesn't bother me if people go off topic. Alot of people who visit through the threads are on WN at different times and don't have the opportunity to visit via chat room.

Thank you abs!
If anyone wants to blame anyone for the recent anti-hijacking actions, it's me you want to talk to...and me you want to blame, and me you want to direct the "tin star" comments to, and you can send me a direct private message with you concerns and we'll work it out.
The moderators try very hard to keep the overall "health" of the forums so they can be enjoyed by all who log in to read them, and post in them.

No one has a problem with a few off topic replies.

There are 12 replies per page, so when it gets to a point, where the off topic replies make up half or a whole page(or more) then it becomes necessary to kindly remind us all that courtesy should be observed and to watch ourselves, please.

I've been here a very long time, and I've had this same conversation several times before.

Lilshelby, I've seen you online everyday since you've joined and did notice that you spent allot of time in the "Red Room"...the "lobby" should be used for casual chat, and the "Red Room" is for the sexier stuff.
So..yep, you were using the wrong chatroom, now...if anyone is a repetitive annoyance by harrassing and demanding cybersex in the "Lobby", then (this goes for anyone having the same problem)just message me, let me know so I can explain to them that they are using the wrong room. Just as you were unsure of what room to use, others can get confused too, or...they've seen you in the Red Room, and assume you like cyber and just have the wrong impression of you.
Any problems you have, just write me and I'll help you work them out, I promise!

I've been in the "Red Room" once, and that was because there were 4 in the Red, 0 in the Lobby.......and that was for 20 seconds, lol...

Abs and Chazzy are right on! the thread topics are for specific discussions...which by the way, we do have fun communicating thru the threads. Generally, we want to explore ideas and gain other insights and perspectives on a topic. Thus, its essential to stick to the topic to more fully develop subject matter.

As one "tools" around WN, it is evident that the site is committted to serve the diverse interests of a very mixed membership.WN accomplishes this by providing different "venues" such as the Red Room for more explicit chat and the Lobby for general chat.

If one doesn't want to maintain a thread within a specific topic, then just start your own topic and create discussion and invite others opinion.

(damn, did I run for election last week or what)..helluva soap box...and yes, I'd like to "blast" you lilshelby in a more suggestive manner...but that is another topic of which i am precarioulsy moving towards...

Re: Forum Newbie
Hey lilshelby, I've been a member of other sex sites and I gotta tell ya, the other sites' forums are not moderated at all. The original post will be annihilated within 3 or 4 replies. Everbody will just chat away with little or no recognition of the original subject. That stuff is meant for the chat rooms!

At least at WN, their moderators try to keep everyone faithful to the rules of keeping the "off topic" meanderings in the forums, to a minimum.

As far as the limited number of members posting subjects and replies every day, that will change as time goes on. Maybe the subject matter is over some members' heads or maybe new members are afraid to reply out of fear of being ridiculed. Well, that doesn't happen at WN. The moderators won't tolerate it. They nip that right away and that member, guilty of such an offense, is asked to cease and desist. This is not the case in other sites' forums.

Don't give up, stick with WN a bit longer.

Re: Forum Newbie
You've nailed it, VB!
Not only do I devote allot of time and effort to this site, I also spend allot of time joining other sites to see what works, what sucks, etc....and do that in order to be a better mod for THIS site. All the mods do allot of work, and some may not be aware of how much work and effort they give you each and everyday.

Each mod has thier strengths and purpose here, we are a tight team, that works to your benifit.

We are here for you and in so many ways, we are here for you way above our "call of duty" ...all anyone ever needs to do is just send us a private message and we're more than happy to work with you.

Re: Forum Newbie
Thank you for you great comments as well, Tropi!

I know I spend sometimes hours with the "who's online list" sending out tons of private messages, encouraging all to be a part of the forums, insuring them all the patience, tolerance, and help that they could possible need, letting them know that anytime they have any concerns and questions, help is just one message away.

All the other mods work as hard, geez...don't know what I'd do without the Lev's! Since my health took a little dive, I have depended on them a great deal to help me with all the things I use to be able to do, but just can't right now...and they've stepped up to the plate for all of us everytime!

Nothing wrong, (in my opinion )of what we call "silly or nonsense" threads, as long as there is NOT a flood of them on the front page all at one time....I've done it, allot of us have done it...sometimes you find yourself with a little extra time online, you want to interact a bit, maybe make some new friends ...and we'll post a silly "i'm bored or restless thread", open the door and encourage all others to interact with us. For silly threads, it's the same guideline...moderation and courtesy.

Re: Forum Newbie
Just so you know...from theses two 'tinstars', the things we do is to try and keep the quality and integrity of the original WN alive. We don't get our jollies from having to offtopic things and delete posts, we do it for you all. After working all day, the last thing we want to do is sit in a hardass comp chair for hrs at night, when I could be relaxing on the couch with the wife and our sweety in front of the fire enjoying each others company. The things we do is because we care !!!
