Teachers
Was there a teacher in school that left a lasting impression on your life? Are there any stories you'd like to share?

There aren't a lot of good teachers out there today- I believe the primary reason for that is more and more people think they CAN'T make a difference so for them its just a job. Our teachers, whether we like to admit it or not, play an integral role in the adults we become. I guess thats why this generation of young people are viewed in the light they are. Perhaps if there were better examples set, then young people would have a better course to follow. Its easy to say how things are constantly getting worse, but it takes people like in earlier times to make the difference and don't care what ANYBODY else thinks. If we-teachers,americans/everyone could put our differences aside for the good of making things better instead of complaining-our world WOULD be a much different place. I enjoy hearing positives about teachers/role models, etc. because everything is so geared toward the negative and the positive things tend to be forgotten or conveniently missed.

Re: Teachers
You betcha! More parents need to stop making excuses for their children's bad behaviour, and start working with the teachers to give their children a better chance out there in this tough ass world!

My history teacher gave me a true love of history, & made me want to save what history I can. My biology teacher cleared up something too, I now know that a vulva isn't a car, he he he.

No, but if taken care of properly, they'll both virtually last a lifetime!

Re: Teachers
My all time favorite teacher was one I'd do anything for when I was in her class... I was the teacher's pet for her. Just adored her. She was pretty, dressed very well, nice car, etc. Only cancer took over and she passed a few years back. Worse funeral I ever been to.

Re: Teachers
Probably the one teacher who left a lasting impression on me would be, "Mr. Crowley" my Technical Drawing teacher. He used to tell the class, that when you do a drawing, always remember to KISS it first.
K- Keep
I- It
S- Simple
S- Stupid
Lately, being in college, I still use this technique in every single project I do. To give you an idea of how long ago that was, Ozzy Osbourne's song came out that same year I was in his class. (Mr. Crowley) Long time ago...

Re: Teachers
Mr. Cochran, my music/drama teacher in middle school. He was here last year and I was hoping he'd still be teaching by the time my kids got into middle school. He retired at the end of last year... one year too late He was awesome! Didn't take any crap from the bad kids. He didn't have to say a word, just gave 'em that look. He was a genious at what he taught! He was the only teacher I truly respected. I guess you could say I was a bit of a teacher's pet with him. He was our bus driver, too, and I'd bring him a piece of cake every morning I always thought he should've been teaching in a college instead of a middle school.

It didn't hurt that he looked like Tom Selek, either... but believe it or not, I didn't see him "that way" back then. I did just "respect" the man for his talent and dedication to his students.

Thank you, Mr. Mount!!!!!

Re: Teachers
Yes there was 4deyes, I had a teacher in the 5th grade at my Catholic school. She was a tough teacher, she taught at Sing Sing prison. I learned alot from her, an amazing woman and person. But she liked me and use to invite me over to her house to sing with her as she played the piano, one song always stands out, a real oldie called "Rag Time Cowboy Joe".

You just reminded me of my music teacher, what a character he was... I used to do an awesome impression of him. Picture this; he was five foot four, weighed in at 100 lbs soaking wet, brown loafers, white socks, every color short sleeve sport shirt you could imagine. He always wore a saxaphone neck strap, although nobody ever saw him pick one up. His hair was always sticking out in every direction. Oh, and those coke bottle glasses... He used to sit in a high chair in the front of the band class. He'd have one leg over the other, the way guys do it. By the end of class, his pant leg would be up around his knee, sporting those white socks and legs that never saw the sun. Add that to his tongue sticking out and moistening his upper lip, as he moved it to and fro, with a baton in one hand and the other making the sign of a gun. He would shoot that thing whenever the music called for a punchy note. The things you remember...

Is that the way you run your classroom? I had very few male teachers...but my true talents in a classroom were procrastination...my record for having a test postponed was three days...
