What Song or Songs...
Get to you, make you goosebump, or get right into your veins or under your skin? Do they give you inspiration, do they bring you back to a moment in your life or time, do they make you sad, or happy?

Have quite a few, will get back to you on them.

"Seasons in the Sun" (Terry Jacks I think) from the '70s. Haven't heard it in years but still know all the lyrics. That one chokes me up a little. A lot of it's lyrics fitted my life at the time, what things were going on with me right down to the girl's name Michelle in the song.

I should add "Cat's in the Cradle" also which had a similar "bummer" effect on me during 20-odd years that my dad & I weren't speaking to each other.

Billy Don't Be a Hero by Paper Lace

I was young but I remember listening to it on the radio right after my Dad's best friend lost his son in Vietnam, it made me cry even back then...years later when I saw his name on the Vietnam War Memorial in DC I remember thinking of that song...it always reminded me of Bobby.

Re: What Song or Songs...
Whoever started this is going to be sorry (TicaD)...I love music...

Seasons in the Sun
We had joy, we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the hills we would climb
Were just seasons out of time.

All our lives we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach.

Verse 1
Goodbye, Emile, my trusted friend,
We've known each other since we were nine or ten,
Together we climbed hills and trees,
Learned of love and a - b - c's,
Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees,

Goodbye, Emile, it's hard to die,
When all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that spring is in the air,
Pretty girls are ev'rywhere,
Think of me and I'll be there,

We had joy, we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the hills we would climb
Were just seasons out of time.

All our lives we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach.

Verse 2

Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family,
You tried to teach me right from wrong,
Too much wine and too much song,
Wonder how I got along.

Goodbye, Papa, it's hard to die,
When all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that spring is in the air,
Pretty girls are ev'rywhere,
Think of me and I'll be there,

We had joy, we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the hills we would climb
Were just seasons out of time.

All our lives we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach.

Verse 3

Goodbye, Francoise, my trusted wife,
Without you, I'd have had a lonely life,
You cheated lots of times, but then,
I forgave you in the end,
Tho' your lover was my friend.

Goodbye, Francoise, it's hard to die,
When all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that spring is in the air,
Pretty girls are ev'rywhere,
Think of me and I'll be there.

We had joy, we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the hills we would climb
Were just seasons out of time.

All our lives we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun,
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach

Sorry to hear that, painful place to be for a long time. And to think it all started with my dad & I because I let my hair grow, campaigned for McGovern, smoked a little pot, & he didn't like it and I told him to f**k off. It never got better and we never made up anything close to what we had. Two bull-headed idiots.

Enter Sandman by Metallica- I used to listen to it with teamates on my high school football team to get emotionally ready for the game.

There is something about that song that makes you want to go out and fight, so it served as perfect motivation to go out and hit somebody in football. It seemed to help really get the adrenaline flowing.

Re: What Song or Songs...
Some years ago, when I had a bassplayer in a cover band for a boyfriend, "Sandman" was considered the standard anthem for playing clubs and bars. They usually played it during the second set, when everyone had several rounds of drinks going for them, to get 'em all wound up for the rest of the evening.

"Fuel" works for me too! I do fear that I'm gonna get pulled over one of these days for speading, though

Re: Re: What Song or Songs...
Rob Zombie/White Zombie is another one not to listen to when driving-when I last looked down I was at 85 and climbing. Its another one that can get the blood pumping. Pantera is the one group that can really put you over the top. They were incredible.

I like to listen to Sublime to help me unwind after a hard day. There music helps keep things in perspective that my life really isn't as bad as it may seem after all.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, cuz it's so close to they way I felt after doing some things in my younger days that I'm not so proud of, It haunts me. & regrets I have, wishing I wasn't so rebellious then. So much of my life wasted.

Today I kept thinking of the Tim McGraw song, "Live Like You Were Dying..." Very appropriate for my life right now.
