Sweet memories...
Just how did you amuse your self as a child, what games did you play?
What were your favorite toys, comics, TV shows and cartoons and superheros?
What were your favorite pranks to play, tricks to pull?
Did you lose yourself in the Atari Asteroid field, or in your father's secret stash of Hustler Magazines?
Did you have allot of playmates in your neighborhood, a sibling or two to drive crazy?

Re: Sweet memories...
I used to amuse myself by playing, "Hide the Salami" (Hey, I was child remember, so I took it literally, so what...). Comic Books were a dime (Boy, am I old). X-men and G I Joe were in, Aquaman and the Green Hornet were out. I used to draw the characters in them, with the over abundance of muscles. Playing tricks consisted of, hiding the remote in the refridgerator and making my father think he did it. My 4 sisters played games like; Keep GG from getting in the bathroom, and locking him out of the house...

Re: Sweet memories...
making bead necklaces was a big hit. never one for barbies, i usually played outside a lot. either riding bikes or playing baseball or horses. make believe school was fun too. swam all the time, all day long until my toes would bleed. managing the lemonaid and cookie stand. we used to go door to door and sing christmas carols around the holidays. put on plays for the adults and sell homemade newspapers to them. lot of great memories.

I dunno... I ate on the floor, slept on the floor, played on the floor, hell I was 10 years old before I found out that I could stand up..lol. Seriously I rode horses a lot & hunted, those were my main sources of fun.

Re: Sweet memories...
You designate a "base." The person that's "it" has a flashlight and counts to "...." People try to make it to base without being spotted. If the person spots you, they have to say, "I spy so n so by the so and so..." The last person caught is it.
We used to play a game called wahoo.... not sure if anyone here will know what it was. Can't really call it a "board game" 'cause it was made out of wood. I can't quite remember exactly how to play but I remember the wood had holes in it and there were marbles involved and trying to make it to the center first

I enjoyed playing hide and seek with the girls in the neighborhood but the last time anyone I knew played kick-the-can, there was a viewing three days later. Keep in mind that I'm 26.

Re: Sweet memories...
To be young again... no cell phones, my mom could get me home by just calling outside the front porch.
What did I do all summer, water ballon fights, hide and seek, reading on the front porch and my favorite
walking down to the school and watching HIM play baseball. It was my job to hold the radio and get the tiger's score.

When we were kids, there was a rule... When the street lights came on, it was time to go in... You reminded me of all the times of staring at those lights, waiting for them to flicker...

Re: Sweet memories...
one of my earliest memories is playing with my toy tractors, plows, and road graders on a small patch of dirt under the kitchen window. my mother was a soprano and she would be singing to herself. going trick-or-treating around our country neighborhood, being driven by one neighbor or another. finding an empty 110 gallon oil drum and crawling in out of the rain, reading a comic book......seems Liuka a hundred tares ago...wait....it WAS a hundred !! loll

Re: Sweet memories...
From the age of about ten to fourteen, most of my time was spent playing soccer, skateboarding or fishing. My best friend lived next door, plus there were lots of kids our age in the neighbourhood. So we always had enough people available for a game of football after school.
My next door neighbour, his brother and myself built a 15' stateboard ramp in our local compound to practice on. At 14, I bought a small boat with an outboard motor for sea fishing and trips up the river Adur.
If I could relive any part of my life again, it would be then.

Re: Sweet memories...
Most of my time was spent showing horses, competition skiing (freestyle).....and soccer....But those were the major hobbies.....Some memories I have was sitting on the fence with the paper girl while she read us the Sunday comics....I lives in a neighborhood until third grade, so playing in every ones yard and hearing your mom call you for dinner was normal, until I moved to the middle of nowhere! I went from having neighbors, to walking in the woods by myself, although it was my favorite thing to do at that point!
We used to go skiing on a Mountain, had a trailer right on the slopes, and at night we used to go out and "slipper slide"....Remember those boot like slippers, with the smooth bottoms.......They kicked ass when trying to slide down the trials, who needed ski's?...

The hunting and fishing trips all those years with my dad. He was a very different person under those circumstances (more of a buddy and less of an authoritarian) & I thought those good times with him would last forever...

Re: Sweet memories...
Oh...I loved riding my bicycle, but what I remember most was a unfurnished doll house my parents got second hand, I loved making all my own curtains, furniture, and even the dolls for it...(kinda explains my HGTV addiction)
I also remember getting lost for hours playing with everything that ended up in a "junk drawer"...that junk drawer was better fuel for imagination than any lincoln logs or lego set!!!
