Pulled the wool
When was the last(or worst) time you've been duped, tricked, scammed or conned?

Re: Pulled the wool
Unbelievably uncanny timing Chazzy. Just rec'd notice with certificate and a check today from an Int'l lotto organization. After I explain things, you may realize why at least yet that I can't say their name. The ck is for just under $3000 with the balance amounting to over $100,000. Now I did enter several lottos & sweepstakes a couple months ago, but I'm a serious skeptic and very cynical re: anything like this. I just got back from my bank. The check not only outwardly appears to the bank mgr. and his acct. security person as legit, but the routing#, acct#, name of the bank, name on the acct. are all legit They called the bank on the east coast while I was there. The issuing bank wants a faxed photo copy of the lotto certificate and the check to "make sure". Also, as a precaution the bank is faxing the same to the local FBI office here. They said it's because of so many sophisticated scams "out there" that they are making double sure that this isn't a scam. Have my fingers crossed of course, but am even more cynical and skeptical now than I was when I opened the damn envelope. Not going to set myself up for a letdown, but I am making my pitcher of martoonis early today! Wish me luck.

Re: Pulled the wool
I played an international lottery last year and I was informed that I won $600,000 and that I would be paid in 10 installments of $60,000. In a week or so after I received word of my luck I received a cheque for $60,000 and I promptly deposited it in a newly opened bank account and asked the bank how long I should wait before trying to use the money and they said to give it at least 20 business days. It just so happened that 10 days later the bank discovered that the cheque was a forgery and my account was now empty. Actually my account was $98.00 in arrears because the cheque was in US funds and within the 10 days the currency exchange rate had changed so much that I then owed $98.00 to the bank. In the end they never collected it from me because I was duped by this scam. They felt sorry for me.

Re: Pulled the wool
I get scammed all the time... Why just yesterday, a woman called me and told me, that I had won a Carnival Cruise for two. All I needed to claim my prize, was to answer a few simple questions. When they found out I didn't have 40,000 dollars in the bank, owned my home, and wasn't employed, the woman said she was sorry and hung up...

Re: Pulled the wool
It's a good thing that skrr and tung mentioned the lottery scams...good warning !
Allot of people have been hurt by these, and the cons must be extremely good at this...
Remember the woman that shot her preacher/husband dead and tried to plea it an abused wife thing? Seems it turns out she freaked after she lost everything they had to the Nigerian email scam...knowing her husband had warned her NOT to follow through with it, and she did it anyway...
