Celebrate!
How much effort do you put into decorating and changing your house and home for holidays?
Do you have closets, attics, sheds and basements with boxes and boxes of stuff for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years?
Does one holiday out of the year cause you spin out of control with celebration?

Re: Celebrate!
I had to give up most of the Christmas stuff, filling up the house with sparkly, glittery dangling things and putting a tree in the living room lost all practicality when the house cat population reached 8.

Re: Celebrate!
Mu wife gets more carried away each year. It starts with Easter then in October the Halloween stuff comes out and the house and yard is cluttered with scary stuff. At Christmas each year she has me putting up more exterior lights and decorations on the house and the bushes. She decks out the inside of the house to the tee also. She does not do the tree though. I am the one to put the tree together [it's artificial] and to put on the lights and the girls do the rest of the tree decorations. Our tree looks almost real and it is beginning to show its age. Its branches are beginning to break off and we cannot find another one like it anywhere anymore. I guess they don't make them like this anymore.

Re: Celebrate!
I used to decorate for each of the holidays - my kids loved the window stickers. Now that they are older I concentrate on x-mas. I do not believe in putting up my x-mas things until AFTER Thanksgiving though. Thanksgiving to me is very special and deserves to have its own time without sharing it with another holiday. I do put up the tree and decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving though as we travel and are not here for x-mas - that gives us time to enjoy the decorations.

Re: Celebrate!
Has anyone noticed if they still sell that white, foamy spray that people used to put all over their windows.... looks like snow.... ??
I know when it first came out it was everywhere! Had to use a chisel to get that crap off your windows!
I wonder if anyone ever tried usin' it on their lawn

I dunno about the spray can stuff, but I know there's a homeade version of it using powdered laundry soap...don't know what the pros and cons are for the homemade kind...but there are recipes/instructions for it on the internet.

Re: Celebrate!
I saw something on HSN or QVC the other day that you mix water into this stuff and it swells up and looks like snow - looked similar to the absorbant stuff they put in diapers now adays.

I was wonderin' because our GS troop made some neck wraps for the soldiers out of this stuff you use in soil. You add water to it and it swells up. You can freeze it and keep cool.... and they're white.
That diaper stuff is just nasty, btw

Actually, my wife and I have no kids, so we go to LAS VEGAS for XMAS. The other holidays we don't celebrate. On Thanksgiving, we take her mom and dad to dinner.
We only kinda' spin out of control when we have an argument! But,then we make up and then we then I take a nap. Hey, I'm an old man!!

Re: Celebrate!
I am gonna decorate for Christmas this year, I like going for a kind of Victorian classic look, using fresh cedar branches, white lights, and my concrete garden cherub statues...
