Social Security
Just a thought that goes along with Dave's thread on disappointment. Remember when SS did stand for social security and meant something..instead of now a days when all it stands for is 'sorry sucker' !!!

Re: Social Security
Yes, and it would really help the "boomers" coming up to that eligible age if the damn Feds (Democrats & Republicans alike) would keep their filthy paws off the SS funds that they seem to think is a slush fund of sorts to be thrown at other projects and programs. These millions of dollars skimmed ("borrowed" in their euphamistic language) are never replaced. SS was supposed to be used for just that, a social program to fight poverty in the retirement-aged population instead of liquidating all their assets/property and carting them off to the "poor farms" like the old days. Your "sorry sucker" Lev, is aptly put!

Re: Social Security
Another problem is that the S.S. system has been abused so bad, & the govt. has allowed it to happen. It was designed to give a monthly check to those who had worked all their lives & retired, or to those who because of being widowed or divorced, although they are working trying to make ends meet, simply can't make it. I have nooo problem with this, thats what it was designed for. But then it was abused by people who drew it, not to help them out, while they got back on their feet, but used by people who have never worked, nor have any intention of doing so, as a "career". Their job is to draw the free money that everyone else is earning, while they sit at home, watching soaps, & drinking beer all day.

That's not a job? Damn, I knew they were hosing me!... Years ago, my ex invited a kid who was fifteen to comes live with her. He told me that since he was eight, he'd been collecting SS. The same ex's, bestfriend's husband, was building a house, based on his SS payments. He had gotten on as a result of disability. Trouble was, he was a year younger than me?! (when I was 30) Funny thought though, I keep getting notices in the mail, telling me that, SS will run out in 2019. My starting date to collect is 2023, but they still take out the cash every week like clockwork.
Oh and while I'm at it, who elected the smart asses, who think, giving SS to illegal aliens, is a good idea?! OH...MY...GOD...!!!

Re: Social Security
This wasn't intended to be a political thread...it was only meant to remind us all of when things meant what they said they were, and the way the world has changed.
