Added extras....PC's
Do you try any freeware, or shareware programs often? Do you have any "extra" programs on your computer that ya just love...like a photo editing program, spyware detectors, internet clean ups, utilties, tune-ups or diagnostic programs, voips, music and filesharing?
What are some that you would recommend, and some that you have tried and in your opinion, really sucked...or even worse...really messed up your PC?

Re: Added extras....PC's
I wouldn't of thought to look there, if I wasn't forced into it, but if you own a HP or Compaq like me, check out the HP site. I used to have a free version of Norton Anti-Virus, until they quit on me and didn't tell me. I went on the site and found a free version of EZ Anti-Viruse. It's the same one that Fortune 500 companies use on the Nasdaq. It's free for a year.
For my Macintosh, anything do with Creative Suite(CS). CS comes in a variety of bundled programs. If I tried to go out and buy them individually, I'd have to take out a second morgage. Depending on what you want, they have a bundle for.
Programs I wouldn't recommend, anything containing AOL. I've had nothing but trouble with AOL. It was fine when that's was all I used, but try to change over to something else and your problems will just be started. When I switched to Verizon form AOL, AOL's programs did all it could to slow down my system, and in some cases, stalled it out. I had to literally, go into my hard drive and remove each program by hand. (All 150,000 files) It took me six months to get it out of my system, and in hindsight, I should just bought another hard drive...

I've heard allot about bitcomet...just how easy is it to use?
It's been a long while since I've even attempted the torrent thing, and I found it just to be above my level of computer competency...it was like...getting all the files for a program or download, and then manually having to put things in the right order to run...

Re: Added extras....PC's
bit comet is a very simple programe to use, fistly go to bitcomets site and download the free version of it, which should be the 0.70 version, then install it on your pc. then go to anyone of the torrent sites, i normally use torrentspy or minover at anyone of the torrent sites, simply enter in what you are looking for, then select to download the file. it will automatically open up and start the bit comet programe and proceed to download your file. once it has downloaded simply stop the file uploading and drag and drop it into the file you want to put it in. and use as needed. its as simple as that. but if you have any probs or questions let me know.

I get all my free downloads from majorgeeks...they are good at checking out all thier downloads for dirty versions, spyware, adware, viruses and such before posting them for downloading....I always use a virus-adware checking for the files I download, before I install 'em....

Re: Added extras....PC's
UseNext is great for movies, you can download a 4.7Gb DVD image in about 6-7 hours. But I tend to use eDonkey for the smaller files where you have a greater choice.
Talking about DVDs, does anybody have a blu-ray or HDDVD player? Are they worth the extra money?

Re: Added extras....PC's
I use AVG virus, better than Norton, by a longshot, IMHO, also use Spybot, love it! I go to PC pitstop for free diagnostics online, takes about 5 min. I use Winmx for downloads, but on Brit's advice am going to try a bittorrent.
Love photo editing and paintshop programs, wizardbrush is great!
I usually get my downloads at download dot com, haven't had a problem yet and before I install anything, I right click it and check with AVG.
so far, so good!

Re: Added extras....PC's
Chazzy, it's nice and easy to use, there's a download manager that takes care of the par files; unzipping, repairing etc. Most films have a preview, info file (format, ratio, sound etc.) and user comments file.
I would recommend DVD Decrypter to burn the img files to DVD.
Most have the extras removed, so no picture quality is lost.
