Soap Operas really make me sick. Everyone is cheating on everyone else and trying to get even with everybody else. These things do not really happen in real life as often as we see on these shows. My wife is addicted to Young and the Restless [I call it Numb and the Useless].
I also do not like the reality shows. My daughters watch them all. I have a feeling that not all is reality. My wife does not watch them either.
American Idol and Canadian Idol are also two shows that I will not watch but again my girls and my mother watch them regularly and if they cannot be home to watch they tape them. My wife does not watch them either.

I love animals, but I hate watching any nature show where a newborn gazelle gets ripped up alive by a pack of humgry whatevers...

I agree for the most part. I enjoy watching nature shows about life in the wild but to see one animal jump another and eat it alive is not entertaining for me either.

I was channel surfing one evening and came upon a program on CBC, of all networks, and it was of people having sex. It was supposed to be an educational program depicting the various ways people please each other sexually. It was considered soft porn but still I don't think it should have been on a national network TV. It was on late at night but it was a Friday night so children could easily have tuned in and I am sure some did. I was not impressed with the CBC. I have nothing against pornography if it done in good taste but it has its definite private place and its place is not on national TV.

Soap Operas. Have close friends for one show and my relatives for another. Just gets to be too much. I'd get into it once in awhile... but it'd stop after a week or so.

So called Reality TV... Survivor? Gilligan's Island was closer to reality than this show, and it was a comedy!...
The Apprentice? When was the last time you went in for an interview and your potential employer requested you move into an apartment with 20 or so other potential employees?
Then made you do tricks for the chance to be the last one standing and get the job? Oh, and by the way, your not paid to do any of this...Yea, like that's reality...

I just thought of this one... Any of those fishing shows on NESN or TNT. Any fisherman can tell you that it's virtually impossible to catch that many fish, in one hour, on a regular basis. What they don't tell you is about the two days of footage they shot for the one hour show...

i agree w/chazzy & nineforu - any documentary showing animals getting destroyed for the survival of another. i know it's nature but i don't want to witness death in action. or sharks being caught for their fins and then getting thrown back in to die a slow death. CRUEL PEOPLE SUCK!

I do agree with that so much, it's just my level of sensitivity that won't allow me to watch it BUT I do admire the people that pretty much, devote their lives to filming the wild nature and it's animals as it is, really is.
So with that thought, here's how truly weird I am...
When I watch something, and even though I don't like the cheesy formulated predictable story lines of a show, or like the characters, etc....I often find myself making note that the actor plays the character very well, or find myself thinking about how well and accurate (or not) the sets are put together. Sometimes I'll find my mind wandering around on the edges or the backstage stuff more than the show, like the directing, and sometimes I wonder about how the camera people and film crew "got that shot"...the casting crew, who "see" a character on paper, then bring them to life via lines and lines of faces that answered the audition calls. I decide how well I like the choices the costume supervisor made and if a different make-up artist would be a improvement....my mind goes wandering about these kind of things and much more while I watch a program, and what makes me decided to watch something sometimes is influenced by friends or family, and even ya'all right here...I can't help but to be curious about what others see as entertainment.
So yeah, since I haven't been at peak health the past month or so, I've watched way too much TV, but it hasn't been all that bad....when I look at it in my own weird little way...

I hate the fact that animals are wasted , such as sharks just for the fins, or rattlesnake roundups where thousands are killed just to entertain onlookers. I love animals & wildlife. They are a important part of the eco-system. I know most people hate snakes, but if you get rid of them, in no time at all, this country would be over run with rats, mice, & other rodents. Then would come disease such as the Black Plague in Europe that killed millions. I'm a hunter but if I kill a animal it's because I plan to eat it.

Actually, it was the flees on the rats that carried the plague.... back on topic...
When I was younger, I absolutely HATED watching nature shows and seeing animals get eaten. I learned to accept it as part of the natural world and it doesn't bother me anymore. It's fascinating to watch. It's what happens and what's been happening for millions of years! Anyhow... Like a few of you said, I hate infomercials! Except the one for the "Bullet." That thing rocks!
