Another sad story
There was a kid here in north Texas that died after his P.E. teacher made the class run laps for talking when they weren't supposed to be. The kid was overweight but it did say in the questionaire that was sent home at the start of the school year that he gets dizzy and lightheaded when exercising. They're saying that a defibrillator might have saved his life (and many others). A paramedic said that it automatically gives a person a 20% chance of making it.
They're trying to pass a law here in Texas that at least one school in each district must have a defibrillator. They cost about 1500 bucks, which is well worth it in my opinion! The state will even set back the funds to provide them to the schools.
It's a shame they didn't have them a loooooong time ago I'm all for it!

Re: Another sad story
Forgot to mention... the kid stopped and told the coach that he felt like he was going to pass out... The coach told him to keep running...
I'd kill the sob!

Re: Another sad story
i HATE reading about children who die for NO REASON. (not that there is ever a good enough reason for a child to die) i grew up in texas, so i know how hot it gets. it's really sad that a child had to die in order for the state of texas to get their head's out of their ass. question, is the pe teacher, or the school being held responsible for anything since the student complained?
and i agree with you, i'd kill the SOB too!!

Now Now ladies, you know that we can't kill him, but no-one said we couldn't torture him for ...... well I'll let ya know when enough is enough.
That is really sad. Actually CPR is most in effective way to restart some's heart, but it's the best that we have, for now. AED, Automatic Electronic Defibulator is a much better solution. Yes they are expensive. Up here they are all over the place, malls, schools, squad cars, etc... They really are dummy proof.

Re: Another sad story
might I suggest tying him to a chair, dumping gas on him & cook his ass. Don't kill him, take him to a burn center, & heal him. Anyone whos been in a burn center as I have knows what I'm talking about. I can think of nothing that could match that for pain.

Re: Another sad story
That is a damn shame...some people. We have trouble like that here too, teachers that aren't trained well or flat out don't care. We tell our little girl if you feel bad or you think somethings not right, tell them NO. If she gets in trouble, then we'll deal with it...our own way. Ours got in trouble for getting a drink on a 90+ day during P.E. during a running thing...never again !!!

thats terrible, you would think that the bodies own "I'm tired mechanism" would kick in and shut down your physical capabilities before serious consequenses happened.

Re: Another sad story
Just a side note.... Texas isn't the only place this has happened. Hopefully this will be a nationwide ordinance!
