Made in America!
Do you try to buy American made products, or is it even practical for you?

Re: Made in America!
With NAFTA & GATT (yeah, THESE were a great idea!) it's getting harder and harder to find anything made in the good ol' USA. The market is flooded with cheap (inexpensive) items made by ridiculously cheap labor and so many of our companies have moved south of the border and west ---way west across to Asia. Our service industries are growing and our production of just about everything across the board for domestic or export is dropping. Not economically sound and the future looks worse.

Re: Made in America!
I try to buy Canadian made but because of NAFTA the cost is expensive. I end up buying stuff made in Korea, Thailand, etc.

I pretty much stick to things made in the Republic of Togo. Except for broomball sticks. Those are made in Canada.

I refuse to buy anything made somewhere other than here, unless I absolutely can not find it, I am willing to pay more & go to several places to find it. Tv's stereos, computers & such just can't be done, but even if I have to order it & wait I will. Why support another country when our own economy sucks. That's why out auto companies are struggling, along with other u.s. companies. We've done it to ourselves, nobody made us buy foreign stuff. I know that I as 1 person, am making no difference in our economy, but I feel better.

Re: Made in America!
one would wonder what is actually made in America anymore? I use to always buy American, but as it is now we have foriegn people working here with foriegn parts that do not work right, and the package says "Assembled in America". I have found that if it says SONY, HP, Hitachi, or Mitsubishi it seems to work well and last longer than GE, RCA, Poneer etc. Its kinda like Pussy, if it works good and last, Im stickin with it, no matter what the cost.

Re: Made in America!
That is if you can find American made. Working with small engines...there is NOTHING made here. Assembled and or distributed is Not made here. Even found jar of peanut butter in the cabinet...made in India. We're screwed and we all know it...

Not to change the subject but what kind of rifle is that on the wall behind you?? from first glance it looks like a winchester, but the 3 inches of wood infront of the forend ring puzzles me, I know Rossi has a lot of wood, but the rest of the rifle does not appear to match. and most Marlins have pistol grip stocks, the slender rear stock suggests an air rifle, but the tip of the Magazine looks like it has a loading opening of a 22 of some sort, hard to tell from the photo, I even tried plowing up the photo but not enough resolution/pixels to suport the photo. Just curious, have a small gun collection, I guess Im getting all fired up getting ready to go deer hunting in SC. this thanksgiving week.

Re: Made in America!
There are some things I absolutlely will not buy anymore because they have closed the American factories that made them.
We tend to buy American cars, exclusively, but even those aren't always American made anymore. The thing I am absolutely unswayable on is Levi's Jeans. I LOVE Levi's, but since they closed their last american factory and moved out of the US, I will NOT buy them. Not brand new, anyway. I will buy older pairs that were made in the USA. I'm only one person, so don't make much of a difference to them, but I feel better for it.

IMHO, NAFTA and GATT were the worst 2 deals this country ever made.

I did not know that! I buy Levis all the time,,,but from K-mart, or Kohls, I have been buying another brand cant remember the name right now but there is more room in the crotch area than the Levis have.

Re: Made in America!
It seems so difficult to stich with a conviction of buying American made products...so much is outsourced, shipped back here and the only American labor involved is sticking the "Made in USA" label on it before it hits the shelf.

Re: Made in America!
I wouldn't consider buying any other computer than a Dell (not sure if there still made in the US). You just can't touch them for spec, quality of build and most importantly price.
I've had six of them in the last eight years, without a single problem.

6 in the last 8 years? No problems? hmmmmmm, I'm not understanding this. I reckon there's a reason, huh?

The gun you see was my grandads 1959 Savage .22 WN cropped the photo before they ok'd it. There was also grandads 1892 rolling block Remington .22 a Marlin 336c, a 1906 .22 special. I have a nice little collection too, including a Nazi officers P-38 which if you look into the history books, it was a real honor to be accepted into the S.S. They checked your bloodline for generations, you had to be pure arryan. When you were accepted they presented you with a P-38 in a wooden case with a gold medalion with a picture of Adolf Hitler on 1 side, & Eric von Walther on the other. I have several guns I've never fired & never will. My collection also includes black powder rifles & shotguns. Didn't know we had this in common. I have a friend in South Carolina that I go Wild Boar hunting with every year.

I'm a product of NAFTA!... Been out of work since April Fools Day 2005 (it was their joke, not mine) Trouble is, Mexico is no longer the riduculously cheap labor force anymore. The average Mexican made $5.80 a day, China, on the other hand, gets a whopping $1.60 a day. Mexicans work an average 8 hr day, while China works 16 hr days. The companies that profitted from NAFTA are now lobbying to add China to the Free Trade Agreement. So looking to the future, whenever you see a stamp that reads, "MADE IN CHINA" just think, "FOMERLY MADE IN THE USA"...

I agree and understand. My line re: Nafta & Gatt being a great idea is entirely sarcastic and the blame for this mess should be shared equally by the Democrats and Republicans. They all had and have a hand in selling America down the tubes for the sake of big business campaign contributions and I'm sure a lot of unethical / illegal "other" contributions we'll probably never hear about . I'd like to break off my left foot in Clinton's ass and my right foot in GW Bush's ass.

Re: Made in America!
I guess I really don't care all that much if I buy something made in China. Chinese people have to eat, too. It's a global market, and for the most part, that's a good thing. That being said, I think buying local is usually better than buying from far away. In that regard, I don't see much difference between buying from Mexico versus buying from California.

But obviously we are not going to solve the world's economic problems on webnaughty.
