What made you begin looking for a site such as this one?
Lonely? A safe alternative social outlet? A safe alternative sexual outlet? General curiosity? Home town boring, too nosy or just plain sucks? Etc.??? (I guess I could say all of these and then some.)

I'll go along with all of the above, plus I would also add the fact that my location isn't exactly overpopulated or has a multitude of choices. It was either join a dating site or date my sister, & I can't stand the bitch. Even though the odds of hooking up are like a kajillion to one, just conversation with friends is better than dating my sister.

Otherwise, prior to this one, I just got bored. Decided what the heck, I'll see what this is about.
Considering what kind of site it was, it was one of the best clicks I've done because it gave me a gift I couldn't think that would be better otherwise.

It was about the same reasons that have been mentioned already. We're in a small town, and MA and I have no social life, working opposite shifts, and different days off.

our reasons actually changed over time... at first we were thinking about having a few more body parts in our bed.. but then we actually got to know people as PEOPLE, and the extra body parts no longer were of impotantce to us. it's kinda like
"we came for the sex, but stayed because of the friendships."

I had joined several other sites with little or no contact and when I found WN I discovered how friendly everyone was and how welcomed I was and how helpful many of the members were. I joined to find female companionship and to establish female and male friendships. I have found plenty of both and I could not be more happier. I find and make more new friends and acquaintances every day.
