BROKE...!!!!
My ass is BROKE, there's a crack in it...What is the poorest you have been and what did you do to survive.. pay bills, food.. etc. ???

Always managed to get a better paying job,,,after I found out that most bosses have their heads up their ass, I knew that I should be doing better reguardless of education, just look around most of the ones with high levels of education are complete idiots,,,its all about confidence and selling your self, I mean you have to have a little bit on the ball, but my God just look and see who we have in office,,,most of us could handle even their jobs.

gosh, don't remind me. right now!  i have had to stop work and apply for ssi as well as disability. it take ssi 5-6 months to kick in. in the mean time, i'm surviving on puppy money and my bf paying my mortgage and bills. this is the poorest i've ever been. kind of hard as i have always been independent.

Cant you go to your local court house and apply for temp. assistance/food stamps,,etc. till SSI kicks in? If you stole food from a store, or shot a deer without a permitt the court would then say why did you not come to us for assistance before breaking the Law right? so I would take those words and at least ask them what a leagal citizen is supose to do till ssi gets off there dead ass's ??

I right there with you Liz!....Have spent the last two weeks in the social service department trying to get help.....And Temporary assistance will kick in for me in 5 days.....Helps I have NO income, being that I decided to better my life and kick the dope out.....However, like the words says hopefully it will only be TEMPORARY help for me.....I am lucky enough to have my health, but that's about all I have right now, and who knows, haven't been to the doctors in years.....When I finally came to the realization that I was on my own, it gave me the strength to do everything and anything I need to do to survive!......Survival mode definitely will kick in when you need it!......Take advantage of the help, even if its just to get you on your feet!......

Believe me Lizzy, & NYK, I've been there. It was very tough for me, of course I had no kids to take care of so that helped, but when I was burned from the explosion, ( see my post on "Who To Turn To"} I couldn't work for about a year, & even then it was a slow process. My parents tried to help, but I declined, even the church brought over a box of food a few times, but I told them I just told couldnt accept, my pride just wouldn't allow it, charity leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I survived by shooting deer, & workmans comp, that just paid utilities. But with your situations which is much different than mine, plus I'm just stubborn or stupid for not taking the help that was offered me. You ladies take any help offered, thats what it's for, to help you in a tough situation.I think of you two often, & my heart just aches for you. Take care of you, love ya

People are so resilient.. Hope I spelled that right... It just makes me feel so good about life in general... I've been homeless... and I know what it's like to be broke and lonely...!!!!

Been there done that. I was so broke that I couldn't even pay attention. But we where able to work things out. But still paying off those things from back then. Probably will for several years yet to come.

Liz...been there ...done that too....don't give up...get in their face as often as necessary...they'll cringe when they see you walk into the office..but hey it's people like us who once were able to work and pay taxes that has made them fortunate enough to still have a job. If you aren't getting anywhere with one person...ask for a supervisor.
I know it's frightening and I know you feel alone thru this but you're not. Don't know if you have community action in your state but you need to check on it...sometimes they'll help you with utilities, etc....well that is if you don't have a problem telling them your life story.
Hang in there girl...at least that's what everybody tells me and finally after 4yrs things are beginning to change. If ya need to scream...yell at me!!
