I love fall too, but I hate to see summer go because I live right outside Buffalo and fall means that winter isnt far behind. And everyone's heard about Buffalo winters. A couple of years ago we got 72 inches of snow in a 24 hour period, and THAT just sucks!

Re: ready for autumn
As far as I am concerned summer is just way too short. I could use another 2 months of summer. Autumn means that winter is next and snow and cold. It can get real cold here in Edmonton but the last couple of winters have been very mild. Last winter we never had snow until March and then we got dumped on big time. We have a long driveway and sidewalk so it means a lot of shoveling and it can get tiring for an old man like me.

I love the fall here in Arizona. It is cool enough to hang outside, do yard work, play in the park and even hike the mountains. I love the crisp air in the early morning during my run, and bbq'ing all the time.

Re: ready for autumn
Autumn is a time for change, observing the beautiful colored foliage snuggling the Allegheny Mountains, especially on Route 80.
This season is one of my favorite times of the year, waking up and breathing the crisp cool air, taking an early morning walk down Hoodlebug Trail, wearing a cozy sweatshirt and as night sneaks in having a cup of hot chocolate nestled near a toasty, warm fireplace.
On weekends, enjoying the travels of the old country roads, leaf peeping and taking pictures of natures beauty, or going apple picking at some of the apple orchards.
Baking and cooking Autumn/Winter foods; a freshly baked apple pie, or a pot of beef stew, yummy!
I love the excitement of Halloween, getting all dressed up to either go to a party, or staying home giving candy to the little peeps; to see the happiness and joy shining on their faces is priceless. Thanksgiving, a time for get togethers with family and friends, cooking that big ole Turkey, and making yummy pumpkin pies.
Now that I created the beauty side of Autumn, here's the dreary part I am not looking forward to, not having the sunshine radiating into your windows in early morning, and getting dark earlier at night, raking all those darn leaves, knowing winter is right around the corner with snow on its way, and wearing those heavy nasty coats.

Re: ready for autumn
I like fall cuz it means hunting season is near, & I'm running out of deer & Elk. But I hate having to wear all those close when it gets cold, & looking like the little boy in the movie "Christmas Story" when he can't put his arms down. Besides it puts a real damper on my skinny dipping, which I think is very theraputic. What a wonderful feeling of freedom!!

...And shoveling snow, driving on icy roads and those heating bills again! ---is there a way to put pics in the forum? I have some great Fall & Winter pics I'd love to share from Indiana and Michigan.

Re: ready for autumn
Halloween!!! Being able to turn off the A/C and open the windows!!!
I didn't mean to, but yesterday I ended up taking a short nap outside on the bench swing (it was just so damn comfy!). I took a blanket out with me, which was good 'cause it was downright chilly! Highs in the 80's here already. I'm lovin' it!

Didn't deter the mosquitos, though. When I woke up they were bitin' the shit out of me! The wind had died down by then.....

My father lives in northern Michigan (Upper Peninsula near Lake Superior) and since the '70s has gone out many times during the winter, usually by himself and plays at least 9 holes with flourescent orange balls. He has even done this when he had to wear snowshoes. That's a diehard, 'ey baller?

does it feel like fall in those 'winter' months for you guys then down there or what? I think if I ever had a chance, I'd spend my winter down there at the very least once, to see what it's like.

You would love it biker!!! You get to wear you "look at your own risk clothes during the day" and the hot winter looks at night - it is cool enough in the evening to cuddle and warm enough to play outside during the day.

Re: ready for autumn
I'm with BC on this one. Just so sick and tired of the f**king brutal cold, like -25 and the temp not getting above zero for days on end. I don't mind the snow, but that cold.... ....Hoping in a few years to get the hell out here..

But I did forget to mention, there are days where its just gorgeous because you'll wake up, and if you look outside the window... the trees will have perfect frost on them... and its just a sight I love. Even little things like that just makes me all soft-hearted.

lizonya is right, I love throwing the makings for stew in the crock pot before I leave for work and come home to a nice hot meal after a long day.

Re: ready for autumn
Yeh, I like autumn.
My boyfriend called and said he already had a few inches of snow in the mtns and a light dusting on the ground. It was Grey and windy. Downright gloomy. That's what he gets for living in the Rockies. By this afternoon, he said you could only tell it snowed when you looked at the mountains.
Well, here in GA, it gets cool and I like to take a drive up Hwy 400 to Dahlonega, Blue Ridge, Cleveland etc. where the Appalachian Trail starts. The leaves are beginning to turn.
