Our Best Friends................
Our best friends informed my wife and I that they were separating after 31 yaers of marriage. Hell, I saw the fractures in what I thought was a fairy tale relationship, about 3 years ago. They seemed to be way too lovy-dovy (a show) around my wife and I and at the same time the wife would tell me often that she was not getting enough romance and sex. She knows she's very high maintanence and let us know it.
Of course, there is always two sides to every conflict and as friends, my wife and I try to hear each side while being neutral. NO CAN DO !!!!!!! Just yesterday the wife called me to ask if I was shocked at the impending, her words, "divorce". I told her I was not shocked and that I saw it coming for about 3 years. She acted very surprised.
I told her the grass isn't any greener anywhere else, so be prepared to be pushed around out there in the single world. Shit, she's 53 y/o, a very good looking woman and wouldn't have problems hookin' up with someone. The only problem with that scenario is at her age, most of the singles are searching for that magic someone without that bitterness from similar marriages. They end up looking for support group-type people to talk shop with.
I know I sound too simplstic but these are my friends, so I'm not thinking too clearly. Maybe they're better off breaking up, I don't know.

Yea, they're the same ones. I've had a schoolboy crush on her for the 13 years I've known her. That's what makes it so tough to judge her. I know our relationship will never be the same. How are my wife and I going to go skiing with them? What, go with them separately? Oh, that'll be fun!!
I'm trying like hell to mediate with them. 31 years together, 2 children, 2 grandchildren, nice house, great jobs and 2 friends that love them dearly!!!!
