Venus and Mars...the myths.
Men and women are entirely two different kinds of creatures, or so it seems...
I love this differences, but are there truths and myths that could be evaluated on an individual basis, and some on a gender basis?
What do you think of some of the myths about our differences?
The first one that comes to my mind is that ....
Men can more easilly seperate "love" and "sex" where as women tend to blur the line between the two...
In your opinion, is this mostly true or false?
What are some of the other sexist beliefs? Like women gossip more than men, etc...?

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
I don't believe so much in those things, I think it has to do more with personalities rather than gender. Many women say that "men cheat easily", but I know a lot of women who do exatly that. Or "women are not good leaders", but the head of my department is an excellent 40 year old woman that I'm very happy to have her as a boss, she's fantastic at her work.

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
I don't think there's all that much of a difference. I've even seen men who get bitchy at a certain time of the month! Of course, it's usually around the same time their female partners do.....

Vast differences.
Women live by feel, men by touch.
Women live by love, men by lust.
Women live by scent, men by sight.
just a few.

I read somewhere that men have the same basic feelings women have when it's, "That Time of the Month" but much more frequently. For men it's an average of twenty minutes each day. Guy suffer the feelings of hopelessness, bloating, irratability, etc... Supposedly, if you leave them alone for that twenty minute stretch, they will come out of it, and most cases not even realize they had those feelings. The case senario; Your man is working on his automobile. For no reason at all he throws a fit, ranting and raving. Twenty minuts or so later, he has no idea of why he was ever that mad in the first place.

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
I can only speak for my self and my family, I am at times a moody sob and it is always about a week or so before a full moon, and my sons are the same way, I have even charted them and myself on a calander, and every time that I have done something big or stupid, it has always been during this time frame, even buying a car, geting in an argument, or even getting hurt or injured.

I think these are generalizations that do not apply to everyone, men or women. I will insist that it's a matter of personality.

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
I do think that our brains, although are alike in matter and substance, do work a little differently, different chemical levels are released, different hormone signals(different levels of testosterone and estrogen), so maybe it's not such a stretch to say that women can TEND to feel a little more emotional than men, but in general, there are plenty of those from both sexes that have problems with controlling their emotions...

How about "people in general," instead of "men and women."

Not sure whatcha mean there, Moon...it's a thread about the differences between men and women.....which differences are fairly accurate, and which ones are total myths

I do know what you mean..... but I've know some men that act more like women that most women do and vice versa.... I can't really think of any "extreme" differences at the moment. I just think it really is an "individual" thing

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
Women have a higher degree of intuition, because of there role for nurturing there children. It doesn't mean that men can't develope that level themselves, it just means, women naturally have it.
In my opinion, women are much more emotional and dare I say it, less logical, or mechanically minded.

I tend to agree with that...I think it's our strong differences that lead to a balance of things...the ying to the yang...

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
I think most women HATE being thought of as "emotional"...I think of it as a huge asset.
I think it allows us to be able to see both sides of things, to be able to put ourselves in someone else's shoes kinda thing.

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
In my experience, women make better managers or supervisors because they can see a situation from another persons perspective. Then deal with that situation in a more tactful manner. What would we do with out you?

I think the differences between the sexes can make communication so frustating, but in all...I do love our differences!!

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
You can't help but believe, there's a fundamental reason for the differences. Even on the pure physical, like women have smooth and curvy bodies and men are very visual about what turns them on. The same isn't true, the other way around.

Re: Venus and Mars...the myths.
Yep...men are very sexually susceptible to visual stimulation, women seem to need a little more of the "reading between the lines" kinda thing...
