staying safe
When you find a guy you would like to meet, what is the safest way to do it? It's a little scary to go out and meet a complete stranger.

Please see the "Dating Safety" tips on the bottom of your screen - Staying safe is the #1 priority!! Definitely meet in a public area with a busy parking lot.

Re: staying safe
To go even further than whats in the dating safety guide. Make it a group thing. Go with a friend(s) and make it a very public event. Definitely go with your gut instinct. If it doesn't feel right, leave.....

Re: staying safe
Don't give out any personal imformation at all on the first meeting, no listed telephone numbers, no home addresses, no work addresses....

Re: staying safe
Thanks, I found that dating advice. Your suggestions are a great help.
I don't think I will be talking to this one guy again. He is a VIP member, but he said he couldn't go in the chat room to talk more with me and is insisting on a phone call. Can't anyone get into the chat rooms? Is there somewhere to look to see if a guy has been bothering other women?

Re: staying safe
Only thing I know that I can answer is, yes, everyone has access to the chat room. Suppose that was just his excuse for trying to get you on the phone?
Then again, you gotta keep in mind some may not benefit from the chat for personal reasons, ask Chazzy, she'd be able to explain more or help out somehow too. She's very helpful on things like this.

Re: staying safe
We do have maybe one or two that I know of, for whatever reason, can't use the chatroom because of computer and OS issues...
If he insists on talking on the phone with you, you're right to want to be very careful, try suggesting an instant messaging service like yahoo or MSN...they all have voice messaging and audio features now, you can talk but not reveal any personal info through them....if he comes up with an excuse about IM's...then you just might wanna move on...there's tons of great guys here that would treat ya right!
I sent you a private message too, so check your inbox and get back to me.

Re: staying safe
If you do want to talk to him on the phone, get his phone number and call him, making sure you "mask" your phone number from any caller ID features he might be using...
Now..I don't remember how to do that? How do you mask your phone number...is is *67?
Someone please explain the "how to" on this, in clear detail for us?

Re: staying safe
If you're not sure your phone number can't be indentified, then stay away from phone calls.
If you use Otlook Express and such, check your details and setting on your emails too...make sure your full name doesn't appear on outgoing mail.
I would definitly stick with this site as a third party, as a filter(or a free online email account like yahoo)...more information than you would like might be obtainable from just your phone number or you emails.
