Austrailia loses an Icon...
(CAIRNS, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.)
That was on my home-page this morning. Apparently he was filming off the Great Barrier Reef and was pierced through the heart by a stingray. It's considered rare to die by the sting alone, but to get the barb through the heart make it even more freakish. I guess it's true; You play with fire long enough...

Loved the show---it will be a great loss to the crocodile world, as we know it.

At least he went in a way he (and his viewers) would approve of.

Re: Austrailia loses an Icon...
Ya, read that this morning...was kinda sad too. Need more "sane" people like him in the world, instead of the millions that just kill critters because they can or because they're in the way.

Steve was one who was full of life and energy all for the right reasons. He will truly be missed.

Re: Austrailia loses an Icon...
Kinda sad to hear it. I always thought he was a smart guy, great attitude in life, about everything. Told my son about it and just mentioned the name and instantly he knew who I was talking about. Don't think anyone will be just as good as he was about wildlife, I'll give him that much as well as how he was about his family.

Re: Austrailia loses an Icon...
I just found this out about 2 hours ago and am in shock - it is just really sad that somebody that works so hard to keep God's Creatures alive and well has passed away. It takes a very special person to accomplish what he has.

Re: Austrailia loses an Icon...
I always thought it would be a croc that took his life. A stingray's barb through the heart??!!! Talk about a freak accident!! And yes, very sad indeed
