Have you been given a nickname for something you do especially well?
I have been called, on occasion, "Magic Fingers". I wonder why?

I work in the airline industry... it is a long standing tradition to apply nick-names to people. A nick is given to you, you can not choose your own. Generally, it is given as a sign of respect for what you do well. sometimes it is given for a memorable experience. My nick is "teach" I am a trainer

When I was about 22 yrs old, I had a "middle managemant" job at local factory, I had a small crew of about 14 men and women. I was young, 5' 2'' and about 100lbs, but I must have been quite a spitfire! I found out what my nickname was once the company picnic came around, and the men of my crew came up and introduced theirs wives to me, I got nearly the same response out of all of them , their eyes popped, jaws dropped, they whipped thier heads around to face their husbands and said something like..." What?? THIS is the ole bat lady that you're always complaining about working you to hard??
Yeah, I was the ole bat lady..

When I was in junior high I was taller than most of the boys so they all called me Tree, one of the guys called me TT for titless tree, boy weren't they shocked when I came back from summer break and my nickname no longer fit the mold...LOL...guess who the first guy to ask me to the first school dance was...Mr. TT but I said...No thank you...

Well mine was "narc". Only because I was in the law enforcement program with the local sheriff. After I was with one of the deputies one night and had to arrest a classmate and got to throw him in jail, I got the name. But not one of the kids at school gave me shit about what I did. I guess they knew better. It helped that my dad was also a local cop. But everyone knew that every weekend they could always count on me being in the squad car, just waiting for them.

Had allot of nicknames when I was younger, but nothing recent. I am however, getting a little tired of my mother always telling me how much I remind her of that smartymouth Darlene from the old Rosanne TV show..

I got the Smitty thing a long, long time ago because Asians have trouble with my name so I became "smee-ti" and it stuck. I've had a few more and been called lotsa things, mostly hyphenated cuss words, but none of those actually "took".

Back in my younger days, the drinking ones, they used to call me, "Bush" which later became, "Boosh" which is short for my last name. Lately they've been calling me things like; Hey you!, what's your name again?, boy!, professor, money bags, and Get out of the Way!...
