Folklore
Got any legends, folklore to share?
Like...around here, we have what the locals call "cry baby hollow". The legend is that a very small child got lost there, and died of exposure, and if you go there at night, some believe and say you can still hear him crying, others beleive it's just the way the wind travels through the lay of land that makes the erie noises.
Then in one area of Missouri, there's a "spook light"..a orb of light that will dance around, and even follow you...have no explanation for that one, but dying to go, as many do, and see if I can experience it myself.
And we do have our reported sightings of Bigfoot, but in Missouri he's called MoMo (short for Missouri Monster)
Whatcha got going on in your area?

Re: Folklore
We have this cave on a mountain, it's a pretty big cave with a big opening, they say that there are very strong energy and magnetic fields there. Actually, the road that leads to the cave is a bit steep, and when you're close to the cave, even if you leave the car without pulling the handbrake, the car will just stay there, or even move forward slowly. There are also reports of people who got in and never came out, and they say that people get disoriented when they go in, most likely because of the magnetic fields.

Re: Folklore
Don't remember too much how it goes but out by the lake by "dead man's curve". Went there with a bunch of people when I was 18-19ish... and it was dark out and said if you go through the fence, someone's going to grab you and a bunch of other stuff (again, I don't remember what all happened other than one guy's shirt did get ripped while he was past out through the fence).
Maybe BCB and Just knows more to it, if they heard such a thing??
Then there another in a town quite a few miles east of here at a school that got burnt. Apparently some girl died there because of the fire. Same people I went out to "dead man's curve" with... went out there and seen this light (no electricity at all there) on and seen a figure of the size of a little girl.
That one freaked me out for awhile. still does

Re: Folklore
Sica Hollow.. right near where I grew up. go google if if you want. It's legend enough to be a state park, but more indian lore than folk.

Re: Folklore
Not sure if this pertains to this particular subject.... but me and some friends were chased by a black hearse one time while driving back roads. Supposedly an old cult of some kind, and not a good one. We had heard that if you get too close to their meeting place, which is in the woods!, you'd be chased down and lucky to get away. We got away and I'll never go down the frickin'road again! There are also stories here in my town about the ghosts that inhabit the old historical buildings around the square. Freaky stuff!

Re: Folklore
we have a building on our campus that has a Bible text..."That our daughters may be corner stones..." The verse is printed on a huge corner stone...the legend has it that there are two people buried right in the cornerstone
