Re: Are You Ready For Some Football....
The Calgary Stampeders and their coach said that they would let the same thing happen as last season. Last season the Edmonton Eskimos staged a second half comeback to eliminate the Stamps from further post season action.
Yesterday the Saskatchewan Roughriders came back from a 21 - 12 deficit at half time to defeat the Stampeders 30 - 21. They scored 18 second half unanswered points to eliminate the Stamps for the second season running. To make it more disturbing for Calgarians is that they did it in Calgary in front of Stampeder fans. Close to half of Calgary's McMahon stadium was filled with Roughrider fans.
Go Roughriders Go.

Re: Are You Ready For Some Football....
Excerpt from the CFL.ca website.
CALGARY - A year ago, Calgary Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris threw two interceptions and presided over a six-turnover day as the Stampeders lost the West semi-final at home to the upstart Edmonton Eskimos. This year, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in town, Burris knew he had to do better.
How about four interceptions on a seven-turnover day?
On a typical November Sunday in the Canadian Football League, the Roughriders answered a heart-stopping 31-27 Toronto Argonauts victory over Winnipeg in the early game with a stunning, 30-21, come-from-behind victory in Calgary.
Saskatchewan now moves on to Vancouver and a date with the B.C. Lions in the Scotiabank West Championship next Sunday. The Stampeders, meanwhile, have their own date -- with a full-length mirror. Every aspect of the Calgary organization will be dissected after yet another playoff failure, from head coach Tom Higgins to president and owner Ted Hellard, whose meddlesome ways have perhaps grown old at McMahon Stadium.
Back home in Regina, Gainer the Gopher, banned from the turf at McMahon, was trying out a new career of his own. A future gig as a casino greeter was perhaps on the line as Casino Regina charged the 'Riders faithful five dollars apiece to watch the game with Gainer.
When Kenton Keith ran right up the gut from 14 yards out, scoring the decisive touchdown with 2:12 left in the game, it didn't sound like there were any Saskatchewan fans left in the Wheat Province. They were all raising cane in Calgary, as a mighty roar went up among as much of one-fifth of the 35,650 CFL fans who were clad in green in a red town.
You couldn't swing a cat at McMahon Stadium on Sunday without hitting someone whose career -- or current employment -- wasn't up for re-defining as the Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders contested the the West semi-final.
First and foremost, we give you Saskatchewan head coach Danny Barrett, whose general manager, Roy Shivers, was fired midway through the season. The new guy in charge, Eric Tillman, was going to have a hard time sticking with a coach who had only won two playoff games -- both semi-finals -- in seven years at the helm. On the other side, Higgins had lost this very game last season. Lose again, and you might not get a third try.
Then there were the quarterbacks, neither of whom have turned great potential into actual results in their CFL careers.. Kerry Joseph took four years and two teams to get to his first post-season game, while Henry Burris was coerced to Calgary from Saskatchewan for exactly this reason, and he had choked in his first try a year ago.
Sometimes, though, all that pressure can get to a guy. In the first half Sunday, neither quarterback looked like they were going to stake any claims in a five-turnover half. Burris dished out two interceptions, Joseph couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with his passes, and until the final moments of the opening half not a single offensive touchdown had been recorded.
Finally, Burris snuck the ball over from the one-yard line just 61 seconds before halftime and, as if that was his cue, Joseph awoke. He took the 'Riders 75 yards in eight plays, hitting Matt Dominguez for a last-second touchdown and a 21-12 Calgary lead at the half.
It has been a long time since Saskatchewan had the best quarterback on a CFL field. They think they have that in Joseph, but the evidence has yet to fully come back for the 'Rider Nation.
"I'm not Superman," Joseph had said before the game, aware of the expectations for perhaps the CFL's most athletic quarterback. "This isn't me against the Stampeders. It's the 'Riders against the Stampeders. I don't have anything to prove. I just have to be me. Be Kerry. I'm a quarterback playing a game.
"I've played the game over and over in my head, and gotten some rest. This is the opportunity I've been waiting for."
Keith opened the second half with a 76-yard run from scrimmage, just 35 seconds into the third quarter. On one play, he logged almost three times more yards than Calgary threat Joffrey Reynolds' 26 first-half yards.
"There are guys who can run you over that you have to buckle up for," Stampeders linebacker Brian Clark said before the game.
"Kenton's a guy you have to have your running shoes on for. He's not going to run you over but he'll juke you out, looking for a corner ... If he gets it, see you later. It's a touchdown."
