Ever want to know who you are chatting with....
When going into the chat room, and participating in conversation and what have you.... we all want to go peek at each others profiles, but... I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression, it's just out of curiosity, it gets the best of me,

I look at just about everybody's profile that comes in the room. I know you can just right click to find out where they're from, but I guess I'm nosey. I wanna know more than that! lol
Nah, I like to see what people have to say in their profiles

Yup, I check profiles of the new people that come in...if more people did that, it would save them some trouble. Oh, just the Ladiea and couples, the guys, I could care less

The few times that I've been in the chat room, I've done the same. It's alway nice to know if they are M/F, and possible what region they are from.

I generally check there profile to see where there from and if they are m or f .Not just curiosoty, but they may be from my home town as well, and if they are they may know some of my friends .

I totally agree! I dont want anyone thinking Im gay because their name is non-descript, like mine! 3/4 of the people who've looked at my profile have been male. I know there was a thread on this before and I didnt bother responding, but appearantly, this happens to alot of other people too. Sometimes I look more than once to see if pics have changed too (meaning female) because I enjoyed what I saw the first time, but I dont want to seem like a stalker. So sex identification would be great! Good point!

When in chat, I do look to see about the other person.
A sex id thing would be helpful next to the names under the entrance to chat.

I don't talk to "strangers" in chat, only to people I've seen in the forums.

I don't visit chat very often, but just like anything I do here, I check profiles, I check before I answer a naughty note, message, or post a reply....I check the profile everytime I see a new name in the forums, newly posted photos, featured members of the day, when I browse the "who's online" list, and "who's checked me out". I check out the photos and read the ads, cuz that's what the profiles are for...to find out more about others, see if you have anything in common with them, share an interest in something.
But I do use the setting in my account>preferences>and check off "no" for the "do I want others to see that I have viewed thier profile"
I do this "stealth" setting to keep my volume of mail managable.
Now, for the sex ID thing, put that suggestion in the support forum, and/or the thread "what would make you scream for joy?" that abs posted in General Discussions.

Don't worry gals im real nosey also, i think i mostly do it cause alot of men like to brag to me about there size and stuff so i go just to see if it's all true.

To be honest....I NEVER look at the profiles......I will even take the time to ask where they are from if its something I want to know at the time instead of looking....Its not that Im lazy, but usually very overwhelmed when in there, and I try to talk to all that Talk to me.......I have found it very interesting that way......I believe that you truly get to know the person, and for the first time in life your really just judging people by who they are, not what they look like or what they say about themselves in their profile.....
Im not saying that I wont eventually look at their profile, but its definitely not the first thing I do, and its usually after I have left the room......By then I have already figured out whether or not that person fits into my life style.....Being that I am not here to find any kind of sexual relationship , I know if they are "friend" material or not......
I do however enjoy talking to most people I have met in the chat room.......As a matter of fact, I have yet to have to block or ignore anyone.....Most people know who I am, and they also know that I am there to help them out when needed, so there are many reasons for me to talk to all kinds of people!...So regardless to what their profile says, and where they are from, or their sex, I am mainly there to get to know all the people here for who they are!

No site can quarantee any sucess if you do not take the responsbility to promote yourself with your profile/ad and become an active member of the community.

jeez i get a lot of "men" perving my profiles but when i know they look at my profiles and i know who they r!!some time they don't say honestly though!!!

By no means did I mean to imply that someones profile was not important!.....I agree with you Chazzy 100%.......It was just something I did when in the chat room, because regardless of who they are, the way they come across in the chat room is more of a reflection of how they would come across in person......
Profiles are crucial for success!.....
That is whats going to grab someones attention from the get go!...My point was, no matter what their profile says, if they conduct themselves in a bad manner in a chat room, it will overcome whatever is put in their profile.....
I didn't say I don't look at them, on the contrary, I look at all of them that I possibly can, probably more than once.....I just dont look at them when Im in chat for many reasons.....Like I said before, the main reason, is Im there to help!
I was really just answering the question based on whether or not I needed to know who I was chatting with...If I was looking for a lover, I would absolutely look at their profile.....But Im on here for a different reason...
I tend to write things at times that can be taken many ways.....Actually Im sure most of us has had that happen.....If I am under the impression that what I wrote could be taken in a way I never thought of, nor was implying, I feel I must explain what my purpose was.....I didn't want anyone to feel that their profiles were not important.....That was not my intention!....I actually feel just the opposite!....Sorry If anyone read it that way!....

I thought about what everyone has been saying about this. I know now that the reason I look at profiles, the main reason, is to see where a person is from. I know you can find that out with the right click thing, but I want to read the rest as well.... I check because I don't want to ask people where they're from for fear that they'll start pm'ing and asking for cyber!!! Yes, it happens  I can't stop myself from saying "howdy," but I regret it sometimes because, for some people, it's slang for, "I want you!!!"

You can use the preference settings in "my account" and no one will know that you viewed their profile,
Profiles can be the ultimate "icebreaker", you can so often find a bit of info there to start off an interesting and sincere cooversation,
