the cd burner from heck!!!!
i finally got my brother to put a cd burner in my computer. it took me a solid year to convince him i would only download stuff that is legal.
so, he puts the burner in and i go online to find a legal download site. i find one that charges $1 a month and says it's legal, but you have to pay for 4 years. so i sez to myself "self let's get this one" and i send in my debit card stuff and i got the service. all nice and proper, so my genius brother won't give me the "you are criminal" look.
then i open up the service, and it says, basicly if you paid for this you got took.
so i call the bank and ask them to cancel the transaction. turns out, you have to cancel the debit card before the transaction goes through. so i cancel my debit card and the bank is supposed to send me a new one. with a new pin # i know i will never remember.
so now i sit here, no gas in the car so i can't go anywhere, no debit card so i can't buy anything anyway. and a brother who is giving me the "you ain't paying for it, so it's illegal and your are criminal and are going to spend years in prison" look. he's probably right, cause i got johnny winter's new cd that has been out less than 2 months.
hope they let me bring all my new cd's to jail with me.
all i really need is sympathy and some "poor baby"s.

Re: the cd burner from heck!!!!
I feel your pain. I never did join any of the pay music sites because I was afraid. I heard they were illegal too but I'm not sure. I wish you could just get the music for free. I never like the whole cd so I end up listening to just a couple of the songs. Doesn't that whole wait 2 weeks for a new debit card thing just suck.

AOL and Apple both have a .99 cent per song deal. Never tried it but I've heard is good. Great if you have an mp3 player like the Apple Ipod

Never, never that say NEVER! use you debit card on line! You are responsable for every last cent they charge you! With a credit card transaction atleast you can challenge any excess charges or even the entire pruchase if you have good cause.

ummmm....oops. Just did that today. I haven't had a problem yet but I did just read an article on how easy it is to get your info when you use it on line. Maybe I won't be doing that anymore.

I use bearshare, it's free with all kinds of tunes. They say it's legal because of how it's set up. Won't go ito all the details here. My friends have used it for years with no problems.
I feel comfortable using my CREDIT card only online. Debit card is about the same as cash, isn't it?

A debit card is direct acess to your bank account. Don't use it online...or anywhere questionable. Once they take your money, it's gone! Never use it out of the country for sure! Never, nevern never!

I use debit and credit cards online. Only once did I have any problem at all. The husband used our debit card on a porno site, and they attempted several high charges. We just had to drop by or call the bank, request that the charges be denied and fill out a one page form. We have our account online, so we can see all new activity which enables us to act immediatly on anyting suspicious. You might wanna check and see what your banks' policies are. They should offer some recourse against fraud.

Re: the cd burner from heck!!!!
the bank will replace any $ that is taken. i had to do it once when my wallet was stolen. but that's an enirely different rant. suffice to say, if the keystone kops took over ajpd, it would be an improvement.
all because i was trying to be honest!

I was wondering if you had a chance to check Bearshare out. You can also download so really hot xxx videos. I found one of the best deepthroat videos that I've ever seen. All free.

Re: the cd burner from heck!!!!
I would offer my advice on CD burners, but if you listened to me, your computer would catch fire, explode and eject the cd through your tv set.
