When the shit hits the fan
How do you rate your ability to function under pressure, or how do you react to emergencies, how well or in what way would you say you handle confrontations?
Do you panic, or pop your pressure release valve right away? Do you blow up, get all fired up and it takes some time for you to cool off?
Do you have some training or just a tendency to calmly step up and take care of things when an emergency presents itself? If you are calm during the storm, what about after the fact, do you then show the signs of stress?

I think for the most part I'm pretty calm. pretty much of a multiple task person.Its not unusal to having a number of people needing my assistance in work at the same time I just tell them to take a number when it starts to get out of hand

This is a great topic and totally depends on the situation at hand. Confrontations, as in driving, I have a very short fuse! No tollerance for dumbasses. In an emergency, like if something happens to one of the kiddos, I'm usually terrified and wanting to screem and cry with them, but stay calm for their sake. My daughter is dramatic enough for the whole lot of us! lol I'm pretty good at first aid when it comes to them and animals.
Funny story......
We were at a softball game one time when my daughter was about a year old (maybe a bit younger) and there was a woman there with a daughter the same age. She started choking on a piece of hot dog. The woman totally freaked out. I went over and showed her how to hold her and strike her on the back, out popped the chunk of hot dog..... Four years later, the little girl and my daughter are in kindergarten together and are friends to this day

I stay very calm, lots of training. Every time I go to work, its a pressure cooker for stress. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get the job done.

I am the "go to guy" and have been for quite a long time..people have come to rely on me for work and personal assistance...its something i feel comfortable in and accept in my role..and i like to do it..
there is a lot of pressure associated with this but it comes with the territory..in part its the challenge that motivates me..and the more pressure the greater the challenge and thus the greater the need to perform..
as for emergencies, recently i completed a 20 hr. course in CERT which is a Community Emergency Response Team comprised of citizens in the community who can and will be available for overwhelming response in the event of a catastrophe such as earthquake, hurricane or the like...
it's good being the "point man." but it does require "decompression." thus my penchant for physical activities and of course...cosmos.

With us it depends on how bad it is. We can handle all natural and man made disasters. We're set up for any kind of NBC attack to a forest fire to a major eartquake. We keep enough supplies to keep going for up to a year. Have multiple aux power systems along with fuel and spare parts. Most of the people around here take the same steps...except the new city people. Depending upon the level of destruction, we have different phases of help for people. Ranging from Phase 1...you help who you can, to Phase 4...in which case you will be met with DEADLY force. When shit happens, most people loose all common sense and become like animals. So it's best EVERYONE be ready for a disaster..

Medical emergenencies- asap, confrontations- depends on the situation in regards to whom is involved, a personal one- digestion for a moment helps the situation, but then it all depends on the situation.

medical emergencies are the norm here at our house...dealing wih a stubborn hubby is definitely a trying task but I have been thru so many with him that I watch the signs and am quite capable of knowing almost to the minute when EMS needs to be called. Not much gets me upset emergency wise when it's happening...used to be ER lab tech for 17 yrs...same with my kids/grandkids...cool/calm/collected when something happens...rapid chewing of gum afterwards to settle me down..lol

I have yet to find a situation/emergency that "threw" me in any way, shape or form. If I blow up, it's because of the stupidity of the people that caused the "emergency". Other kinds of emergencies don't phase me besides a slight pause to figure out how to handle it.

I usually do quit well under pressure.
Much of truck driving is avoiding other people and this happens too often. It has taught me to be patient more than any other thing I can think of.

after a half dozen experiences i've come to learn that surprisingly... I'm the step up, stays calm, takes charge type under serious life and death situations. Odd given my normal preference to play the supportive roles in life and shying away from any positions of leadership.

I usually start panicking and think/say lots of things that never had a reason for me to think of it, like think the worse before the good. Same goes for emergencies.
Most part, I do it before I think about it. So in the end, I could hurt someone or myself because of my lack of thinking prior to the doing.

Second paragraph goes for non-emergency related ... just to clarify so no one thinks i try to kill someone before thinking about it.  Emergencies... I do panic for the first minute or two, then settle down and do what I gotta do then.

Good Post Chazzy! Ok, I am calm during emergencies if it does not involve family. I get an attitude very quickly if I feel I am being done wrong. I get very emotional if I am in a confrontation with those I love.
I can not lie about my emotions as my cheeks turn bright red if I am tired, mad, or embarrassed!! Which sometimes is a big disadvantage.

Emergencies, I do alright...confrontations, I do not allow any one to get to me...if I feel I may have a problem controlling my temper with someone, I will avoid all contact till I'm sure I can handle it intelligently, not emotionally.
