Your neck of the woods
Wanna compare some regional customs, phrases, habits and such?
I bring this up cuz I was just talking to someone about BBQing, in their west coast stomping ground, they've never heard of grilling up "pork steak" and around here, you don't dump out the charcoal unless you got a bloody red pile of 'em!
What do ya'all call soft drinks where you're at? Pop, soda, cola, sody, coke?
Ya ever heard the term "flat meat" in reference to deli sliced or prepackaged sliced lunchmeat?

Re: Your neck of the woods
I married into a British family....my husband came to this county very young, but I still notice we have some cultural differences....he thinks it's odd to serve chilled sliced tomatoes as a side dish...and I think he's weird for preferring butter as a sandwich spread instead of mayo.

Re: Your neck of the woods
I love butter on untoasted bread
Here in the south, mostly Texas, we bbq a lot of brisket. A little further up north they prefer pork. I do believe that wet rubs are more popular here in Texas than dry rubs for ribs. We call all sodas "coke."

Re: Your neck of the woods
Can't imagine anyone preferring a "dry rub" to a wet one. (Nudge nudge, wink wink.) And Chazzy, I assume your hubby is one of those that eats his toast buttered side down.
And Moon, what in tarnation is a brisket?

If it's the same show I watched, they showed a place called Sonny Bryan's... My friends dad worked there many moons ago and knew the man. Used to bring us home some ribs and bbq sandwiches..... *drooling*

Re: Your neck of the woods
BC is right its pop here. if you want a cola, you are asking for the off brand of dark pop like Coka-Cola.
Up here we BBQ everything. Pork, beef, lamb, veal.
Here we will say, "Ya sur you betch ya", like from the movie "Fargo".
