Fry an egg
I dunno about ya'all, but here in the midwest, the heat index is up past 110 and it's looking like it's gonna be that way at least for the rest of this week.
Anyone else suffering from this in their area too....don't forget to check on your neighbors, check on their pets, leave a little shallow bowl of fresh water out for the birds and other small creatures...if you have to venture out to go anywhere, take an extra minute out there to scan the parking lots as you shop and go about your business...there are still plenty of idiots who think it's alright to leave children and pets in a car when they are just "gonna run in for a minute".

I heard that somewhere here in MN a farmer had some abandoned eggs that hatched. Meaning, eggs that the mother hens were NOT sitting on hatched. Now that's weird. Not to mention hot.

St. Louis was pretty torn up last night, a kind of "freak" storm hit.
85 mph winds took down signal lights, street lights, brick walls, blew over trailers. A real mess.
The frightening thing is all the power lines that went down and we have record heat and humidity predicted for the day, people are gonna be suffering, especially without power to run fans and air conditioning.
I live on the rural edge of the area and all we got was a some wind and a little rain.

The heat finally broke here. The hi's have been in the upper 80's with moderate humidity. Yesterday we got about 4/10 th of rain, haven't had that much in over a month.
I've been thinking about those of you in California. Hope the wildfires are stayinig well out of your reach.

We have had two deaths just in nashville from heat stroke in two days. It has been hot enough to fry eggs on the side walk. Thankfully high this weekend is only going to be 83.

Dallas just finished a 13 day streak of 100+ days. We had a "cool front" blow in last night.
High today is to be only 95 but I'll take it over 107 w heat index of 112. I'll opt for upper 90's which is seasonal. Emergency rooms have been busy for 2 weeks and lots of items on the news about entire apartment complexes w/o air for several days. I hope the worst is over cuz it's been very hot over a lot of the country. Pray for rain or at least do a rain dance for the "Metromess". Only good effect is that the ladies are dressed very minimally and "strutting their stuff". Just what an old perv like me appreciates!

Re: Fry an egg
Its hot and dry here in minnesota, officially in drought status. It's so hot, I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were both walking. We have to go down to the river (well, creek now) and spray the catfish for woodticks. The Baptists don't dunk you underwater, they just put a damp rag on your forehead. It got so hot, all the corn in the fields started popping, and 12 mules saw it, thought it was a blizzard and froze to death.

No relief here yet, but everyone does have power now, took nearly two weeks.
In the city, they pulled it together very well, even using the city buses as emergency cooling stations otherwise we would have a very sad death toll count.

Not sure how I feel about the GW thing, it seems possible, but then once you go back, back and check all the records, our seasonal extremes seem to come and go and aren't just a recent phenomenon

like GW, but think there is much bs associated with the global warming.
I remember in school that I was told the sun would be brighter and hotter every year. That was a VERY long time ago.
If there is really a hole in the ozone, why isn't the ground under it immediately fried??

Chaz, I hope I don't get in trouble for bringing religion into this.... but..... Although I don't believe it's because of global warming, it does state something in the bible about (don't quote me on this) a "great ball of fire" descending on the earth. I believe that it refers to the sun. It'll happen some day, in my opinion, but we're not anywhere CLOSE to that time.

Anyway back to the global warming thing. And how do these so called well educated people know that the earth is actually warming up. It's not like there is a lot of historical records to go by. Being records have only been kept since the late 1800's. I know that they have been researching the polar ice cap in Antarctica for things like snow fall and any possible major global instances.
Moon, I think the great ball of fire they talk about, would a meteorite.
