Oddly intriguing
Is there anything that you think is just so cool, but not an interest shared by too many others?
For example, I happen to think that large construction equipment is cool...don't know why, I'm just fascinated with towering cranes, tunnel drilling machines, things like that...and I always get a kick out of old vintage and antique tractors...don't know why but I just find some things oddly intriguing.

Re: Oddly intriguing
You're not alone with that one, chazzy. I love large equipment! No pun intended. I have a collection of old metal tractors, cranes, you name it! They're mostly hot wheels and tonka. The boys get to play with them every once in a while. Gotta be extra careful with 'em, though

I've always enjoyed cooking for a large group of people, which is something many people don't like to do.

Oh yeah...I find that weird...I can piss and moan a fit if I have to throw a slap of burger in a skillet and cook myself a lunch....nope, I'm not much on cooking!

Lately I've found myself attracted to beef jerky...Before, I wouldn't touch the stuff, too much like carboard, but now I buy it by the pound and all different kinds too. Weird...

I'm a gamer; that's usually obscure enough.
Of course, I always have to remind myself that "D&D Free" means something other than that...

Oddly enough, I don't care to cook for myself. I'd just as soon have a bologna sandwich as anything. I like to cook for anywhere between 6-20.

I can also find a fascination with manufacturing, how things are made...automated, robotics or the skill, coordination, and work ethic of the human laborers.

Me too. I really like to see how the processes have evolved from over years and into the newer technology. I have found that some of the newer technology is slower and makes the parts more expensive that some of the older technology.

Re: Oddly intriguing
Large equipment does fasinate me and I wish i had some
These very large machine are fantastic not only in size, but in the mu=echanics of them. Even the new farm machinery that is being made now. They have sprayers that have either three or four very large floatation tires and are over 15 feet tall. The newest ones have tall skinny tires and are also over 15 feet tall. The last ones look like large ants to me when i see them

Chazzy..... Try the Science Channel.... Check the listings for a show called "How It's Made." Very interesting stuff!

I like to go to old antique machine shows & here we have antique thresher days where they harvest wheat with horse drawn & steam powered equipment. I also love antique firearms & indian artifacts. It's partly the reason I only hunt with a long bow & black powder weapons.

I know exactly what you are talking about, before I took my current position, I was the kitchen supervisor and we cooked for 1400 for every meal. They were the most ungreatful SOB's I've ever seen. They would bitch about the food even if Wolfgang himself cooked every meal personally and the meal was served by the playboy bunnies, naked. The job was kinda fun, but by the same token it was a real challenge.

Re: Oddly intriguing
I love bottles. Perfume bottles. liquor bottles, the odder and more unusual, the better! I have Napoleon brandy bottle that I picked up at a yard sale, empty, but still has the label on it and cork with it, made in the 1800's.

Re: Oddly intriguing
Oh cool, Pepper! I have a closet full of bottles, from the 1800's on, some are embossed beautifully, some still have paper labels and contents too.
Most I dug up from stumbling across old log cabins, even entire communties that no longer exists, old farm dump sites....I would come across these places while hiking or exploring old dirt roads in my car.

Re: Oddly intriguing
This thread has gone two dif ways. It is interesting. Some of us equate intriguing with different, and others with peevish or anal. The true meaning is to plot or be secret, sneaky. Spys use intrigue to get what they want a lot.
Nice one Chazzy. I never dreamed when I joined this site that I would be spending more time using the big head than the little one. Once again you have stimulated my brain, and made me think.
Bravo M'lady.
It is, beggining to ruin the place for me though. Hard to think of the real reason I joined when I am garnering so much enjoyment noncarnally with you ladies.
May have to find a dif site to take care of my baser needs.
If I could only figure out how to maintain the ladies in heres respect and still have my fun.
I'll deal BTW, keep em coming. You and M'lady MoonHowler are def worth the price of admission.

Re: Oddly intriguing
Hardware and home improvement stores! I'm not a shopper, hate shopping for food, really hate shopping for clothes, shoes and all the usual girlie things, but I love just wandering around a hardware store, all the gadgets, tools, parts and pieces...kinda goes with that "how it's made, how things are put together" thing.
