Men dying their hair?
I have been seriously thinking of putting the original color back on top with some sort of color? was wondering if anyone had any good tips, bad experiences, or otherwise about it???

Re: Re: Re: Men dying their hair?
Hothands, just for men is an oxidizing agent which oxidizes with the air to form the color, and once you use it if you want it to keep looking like that color you have to keep using it, The thing with that, coming from someone that use to do hair is, it's like any dye a woman uses, you wonder how much of it is actually going into your skin tissue and affecting the brain after using it long term. Just my point of view on.

I have been "conditioning" my hair for about 2 years now . I'm 56 y/o and I feeling good about myself. I have a professional do it. The salon only charges me $25, so what the hey. I have blonde hair at #10, if that means anything to you. I look in the mirror and it looks pretty good. Not that fuckin' brunnete shit. On a man in his 50's, that color looks kind of ridiculous. Ya might as well do a comb-over or wear a wig!!!!

I go about once every 2 months and a salon does it for me, usually every second hair cut. I'm fortunate though, for I have a full head of hair, not as thick as 20 yeas ago but full, no bare spots.

If you're hesitating doing it, fuck it, go ahead, you've earned it!! Have a salon do it. Tell them you want to go kinda blonde. After 2 years, I'm up to a #10 color. After a while, you'll grow to like it. It's either that or a fuckin' tattoo or god forbid, a corvette!!!!!

My wife loves it and she's the only one I have to please anyway!!!!!!

Re: Men dying their hair?
I have also thought about coloring my hair. I have a full head of hair with no bald spots. It is presently turning a silver Gray, and I have asked a few ladies what color I should make it and I was told to leave it alone.
They all stated the color is very distinguished looking.
So based on their answers I have left it alone and had no complaints so far. And I am 61 and happy I left it alone.
And actually im happy I have a full head of hair also.
Look at profile pic ladies and you tell me what you think.

If its something that you want to do because it will make you feel better, I say do it!....However, I personally like the "gray" hair.....I find it very distinguished!.....You can always shave it all off, thats a good look too!....

Re: Men dying their hair?
What the hell....go for it, try it, experiment a little, I know for women's hair dye when it says "permanant"...it really means it'll last through so many shampoos or a couple of weeks before your hair starts to fade back to its natural original color.
Any big changes in hair color though, it's probably best to pay the bucks and make an appointment with a barber or hair salon.

Re: Men dying their hair?
I personally find it hilarious when men dye their hair back to the colour it had when they were in their teens and twenties.

If you do it - spend some money and have the stylist leave some gray streaks and hairs in place. Nothing looks sillier than a 50ish face with a 20ish head of dark black hair.

Re: Men dying their hair?
Tropi says "go for it." I'm in my late 40s and color my hair..have done so for a couple of years now...original blonde color...not trying to look like im in my 20s but definitely lessen the graying effects..

here's some tips from the Trop:

Unless your hair color is brown or black..don't use the Just for Men products...

I've experimented with several brands and find that what works best for me is from Sally's Beauty...the wella products in the small bottle. about $2.50 a bottle..follow directions...do your sideburns and side of the head first...those tend to be the grayest areas so they need the most time...then work the top and back..

also..if you have lighter colored hair. like i do, don't leave the product on to the full time recommended..that way u still retain some of the gray..just a little..and the color looks more natural..

also. the wella color selection is huge compared to just 3 or 4 from the Just for Men so u can customize your coloring. it takes a couple of times to perfect it but its well worth it..

i did do the salon treatment once..charged me LOTS more and the color didn't last any longer than the $3 bottle stuff from Wella. so, dint' waste ur money...it is easy to do..if you have a partner, spouse,or significant other u can enlist to help then even better..

Re: Men dying their hair?
The gray is migrating up from my beard. I think that will become my new color. Fine by me.

Re: Men dying their hair?
I would suggest that anyone going to color their hair, the first thing is to get a patch test. I had my hair colored without testing first, and OMG did it burn the shit out of my scalp. I actually had blisters. I was also a model at a hair show, they put the "Menz" hair color in, which is semi-permanent. But it felt like my hair was always dirty and greasy. I don't even bother anymore, I'm all natural, no artifical here.

Re: Men dying their hair?
im a little way off from having to dye my hair, but if i go gray, i will do it gracefully, and just accept it.afterall there are plenty of women that like the grey look.

You lucky bastard!!! 27 years old, can get a "salute" any time of the day, ya got all your hair and a you're a long way from gray. Ah, the good 'ole days.

Back in the day.........Hell, I like the blonde look on me! If the ladies like it, all the better. My wife loves it too!! She's commented on it while I'm going "downtown"!
