will i still be sexy????
i'm nervous about this post because it has to do w/my health. but i have come to know and love you all and value your opinions & comments. i'm scheduled for a hysterectomy this coming wed., the 19th, and i'm a little afraid. it's a major surgery and i'm a bit emotional about it. just wondering if any of you ladies have had it and if i can get any tips or advise? Recovery time is about six wks, so i might be away for a bit. hopefully, i will come back better than new and live to tell about the experience.

Liz, my mother in law had one many years ago... She'll be 59 this year and is in good health in that sense.... Good luck with your operation and you know I'll be thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers, sweetie

You know, I was always taught to look at the good of things!.....Although I have had major surgery before, I have not had a hysterectomy....I had a C-section....I found that the minute they allowed me to get up and move around, I walked everywhere!....And it seemed to truly help the recovery time........I believe that we aren't given anything in life we can't handle!.....You are a very strong woman!....No need to waste energy worrying, but concentrate on getting better!.....You should be just fine!..........If there is anything I can do please just let me know!....I will be thinking about you!.....

You will do just fine, I know lots of women who have been through it and all of them are ok, most of them say that it caused them to gain weight in the 10 year period following, some blame it on the hormone changes, but all of then agreed that they did not choose healthy diets and a lack of exercise was the real problem for the weight gain.
I wish you a speedy recovery and will keep you in my prayers as well,

My mother-in-law had it done many years ago and she came through quite well. I co-worker of mine had it done too and she is doing very well. You will not lose your sex appeal. I will still want you under, beside and on top of me. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I am sure that the procedure will be successful and you will be fully recovered quickly. lots of women have had it done including my mom and aunts,they came through it just fine as I'm sure you will,and yes you'll be just as sexy!Hope you have a speedy recovery,good luck and my God watch over you.

Best of luck to you! I say a prayer or two for you but as long as you stay positive it will all be ok! As far as being sexy - That is a 100% sure thing.

I have never heard of complications from this, but you are geting a his removed.

Hey Lizonya,
keep ur chin up gf. One of my best friends daughters had a hysterectomy about 3 years ago. She's doin great and living life with enthusiasm as i am sure you will too in your post surgery..
You're inherently sexy my dear, its in your French Armenian genes...so I absolutely expect you to be every bit as sexy later as you are now.l

Lizonya, everything will be just fine. I've seen this surgery done 3 different ways, each with their own pro's and con's. In general, you will be just fine, and you will be just as sexy then, as you are now. Keep us posted on your progress. We'll be with you in thought and prayers.

Still - sexy? Sexy is in the mind not in the physical attributes. If you want to be sexy you will be sexy.
The forced menopause will be troubling for quite a while, hot flashes, mood swings and unreasoning anger at times - but if you keep your head about you, these are survivable.
Sex afterward will probably require more time and effort - lubricants and patience. But it will be the same.
Two of my best friends have recently undergone Hysterectomy and both have since returned to normal sex lives - although they did have to change their routines. (one was laproscopic the other was via radical abdominal surgery).

I can tell you - sexy is how you feel, and you are in charge there. In fact - you rule!!!
You are an amazing woman and will come through it with your positive attitude and your willingness to open yourself to suggestion. I like the idea of getting out and walking taking yourself just a little farther everyday!

40Something took my message!! But you will always be sexy - you are a beautiful inside and out which is what makes you radiate! Just be sure not to push yourself after the surgery. Walk, rest, and take care of yourself!

well, i had the surgery and the outcome was not good. i have stage 4 ovarian cancer. did not see that one coming at all. 
this is all new for me and hasn't really sunk in yet. i appreciate all your good wishes and prayers.
