Bye Bye BMW................
I just traded in my 2000 740iL for a, god forgive me, 2006 Chrysler Town and Country. On the surface, that seems like a step down. Hell, that's a trip and fall!!! I know, a real man 's mobile for a soccer mom's chariot.
Actually, the Bimmer was starting to be an extreme money pit. What BMW describes as general maintanance is in actuality, major repairs. Replacing the dual radiator, $750. Ancillary items such as cabin air fiters, $225, replacing heat exchanger between the transmssion (possible trans. failure) and radiator (engine damage), $700. The list goes on and on. When all is said and done, $4000!!!
I know, WTF did you buy a vehicle like that knowing that these "maintanance" issues would be on the table in the future?? I didn't know that after three stinkin' months, I would be forced into a "do it now or die" situation (79,400 miles). I thought I could possibly spread out this "general Maintanance" over say, a year. Yeh right.
The Chrysler dealer is dumping it off to a wholesaler. It's his problem now!!!!!
It was a fun, exciting, crotch tingling, exasperatingly brief ownership, but time to get back to reality. It's not a poor man's car. But a Town & County??
That's me in the drivers seat of my brand, spankin' new, inferno red T & C with mussel of a Smith & Wesson pointed in an upward trajectory in my big mouth. Perhaps a dab of Gulden's Mustard would make it "palatable"!!!!. I'll leave the sunroof open so as not to soil the headliner.......... lol

Could be worse, you could have been driving a Lamborgini Coutertach. You have to have the engine removed just to replace the spark plugs for a tune-up...(about 5 to 6000$per tune-up)

The reason for my choice of a SMITH & WESSON to redistribute my limited brain material into the ozone is brand loyalty. I have friends that are in management at SMITH & WESSON. What would they think if I were to use a competing manufacturers gun for that? They would never talk to me again!!!!!!

Well, my new vehicle (fuckin' minivan???) is all pretty and shiny and new, and I'm still depressed. I guess I'll have to get a hold of RUSH for some VIAGRA to replace the "feeling" I got from my BMW. Life ain't fair!!!!!! lol

You might want to google "problems with (year), (model) Mercedes" and see what pops up. Remember, what Mercedes might call general maintanance, might very well mean wholesale replacement of expensive parts. It's the nature of the beast, nature of the beast.
Eventually you'll be saying to youself,"ummmmm, pay the mortgage this month or fix the car"???? That's the neighborhood you will be thrust into.
Great car though. At least starting off with 18,000 miles, you could enjoy the car for a little while, before the hurt starts. That is not a poor man's car, but you will be!!!!!lol
