Family reunions
Seein' as how I'm goin' to a family reunion this weekend, I thought I'd start a topic about it. This family is disfunctional, to say the least! Should I take a video camera for evidence in case I get summoned to testify in court? Ya' know, if someone decides to kill someone.... Might be me, ya' never know!
Should I bring ear plugs? My shotgun, maybe?

OK back to reality, , I have a family reunion of sorts to go to on July 4th. Haven't seen my cousins in about 7-10 years, since the last funeral. It will be good to see them again.

Family is a funny thing.......Most families put on great fronts to be seen as the happy household , but in reality we are all more fucked up then we are normal!
Things have changed so much in this world....I grew up with lots of love...You know, even if you were mad at your parents when it was time for bed....You still always gave them a kiss goodnight.....Now a days, I can't tell you the last time I got even a peck on the cheek, although not from my children!
I have enjoyed seeing my relatives on certain occasions, but I find no matter who you are, or how your related, people tend to love to see others miserable!
I think I went a bit off topic, but its still about family....

Re: Family reunions
Growin' up, we were never ones to air our dirty laundry to anyone! Back then, we got into trouble but I wouldn't call it abuse.... by today's standards, though, CPS would've been at our door in a heartbeat! Just made us better and stronger adults, I think.
Families are not perfect and if you claim that your's isn't disfunctional, you're full of shit! The only reason we're going to this reunion is for my father in law who passed away a few years ago. It's his side of the family. It's about the only time we ever see them besides Christmas (every so often). They're not the nicest people in the world, you can't tell them anything unless you want everyone to know, my f.i.l. pretty much raised his younger brothers because of his mom (long story).... So, yeah, this is gonna be quite a reunion.
I'm takin' extra ammo!

Re: Family reunions
i had my 3rd annual vizsla family reunion. i breed these dogs and it's a blast! had 18 adult dogs and 6 puppies - people love to sit around and talk about their dogs. it was a pot-luck/bbq - plenty to eat.

Re: Family reunions
Just went to a family reunion on my wifes side last sat. they held it at the subdivision beach, we BBQ, most everyone had fun, drinks, and good conversation, they had a boat dock and a ski boat with a merk with a 4.3 leter engine, and did tubing all around the small lake, one young woman asked me to tie a dbl knot in her bikini so it would not come loose, so I guess the others thought I was the offical bikini knot man and came to me also we all had fun, then back at the pick-nic area when they started getting a little loaded all the BS stories started with how well their buisness were doing,
then a storm came in and we all packed up and left, quick kisses and hug goodbyes for another year.

Well, THAT's what the gun is for. That way, you get more funerals and thus more family reunions. See? Seriously, though, I think you should bring a great deal of booze.

Family reunions are a blast if you are lucky enough to have a disfunctional family.I went to one that looked like Jerry Springer made over.
If you need a date for the reunion,I'm up for it.And yes I do give up the face!!

Well, things went fairly well after all! The food was good, the kiddos got to swim and had a blast..... we got 4th place at horseshoes (frickin' cheatin' bastards!!! ).
Didn't have to kill anyone, didn't have to break up any fights.... It rained cats and dogs on the way down but the sun came out when we got there.
All in all, we had a pretty good time!
Didn't have to waste my ammo

If you went to any of my family reunions, you'd need to bring a sense of humor... My dad's side of the family are happy go lucky drunks who play practical jokes on each other... For instance, my mom turned sixty last year. My Aunt Gloria drove fifty miles to my mom's house just to leave a sign that told passer-bys to honk their horns and wave to my mom wishing her a Happy Birthday. She didn't discover the sign until later in the evening... My dad knew who left it just by the handwritting...

We're the "dysfunctional practical joker" family. My dad's fiance is from Nova Scotia and hates flamingos. Thinks they're tacky in the yard. We had my dad take her shopping on her birthday one year and got to their house early just so we could put little plastic flamingos all over the yard. I'm talkin' ALL over! Not a space between 'em
