I couldn't believe my eyes!
I'm sure y'all saw this story on the news lately. The 10 year old boy being taunted on the bus by a couple of teenagers. Does what any kid would do, slaps the teenagers hand away. The teenager then proceeds to beat up on the 10 year old.
When I first saw this on the news, I was eating dinner one night. You know when something happens and you just automatically start crying? One of those uncontrollable cries where you can barely talk and the tears are streaming down your face? That was me!
I was so disgusted I was literally sick to my stomach for the rest of the night. The reason being is that I have a 10 year old son, too. He's small, wears glasses (all of us do in some way, shape or form) and is a bit of a brainiac. My 5 year old will be 6 in less than a month and he's almost as big as him! All I could think of is, "that could be him!"
I don't worry about my 5 year old. Although he too wears glasses, I know he can take care of himself. He's a little terror! lol But I have always just wanted to hold onto my 10 year old and protect him from the cruel kids out there that have parents that need to have their asses kicked because they're too ignorant to teach their kids not to make fun of other people for ANY reason!!!
He is a little spitfire sometimes, though, so who knows! If push comes to shove, he could probably handle the situation. Not to mention the fact that his 11 year old sister is only an inch or two away from being as tall as me, might weigh more than me, not sure...... and is solid muscle! They may fight like cats and dogs when they're at home but when it comes to school, they tend to take care of each other..... especially her. I call her "momma hen."
Anyhow, I would like to know what y'all think of what you saw, if you saw it. Am I overreacting by feeling sick to my stomach while watching it?

Re: I couldn't believe my eyes!
We've had a similar story here in Greece too, five 10 year old kids killed a 9-10 year old boy, but the thing is that the body has not yet been found... yes, it does make my stomach sick too and I don't have any kids, so I don't think you're overreacting

Oh, moon.. how awful! I got ill just reading your story. I imagine the pain that mother must be in, it is in our nature as adults to protect the young and innocent and to think there was a little boy harmed so completely.. I hope they punish that teenager so that he learns how wrong that was to do.

Re: I couldn't believe my eyes!
I didn't happen to see that story, however I see enough in the city......We just had a second grader killed by a bus because a child same age went into a parked bus and let the brake go.......
Ohhh yeah, and there was a 5 yr old girl who was tormented by her stepfather...while the mother did nothing about it.......She was killed by him while tied to a chair, and lived in a room with no food and a litter box for a toilet.......Its very sad, and the worst part....Social services had that family on their list, not to mention had been to the home many times......The system here sucks!....
We can only do our best by being the best parents we can be....As long as we teach our children right, they will always have that to fall back on!...We can't alwasy protect them. but we can at least give them the tools and values to live by!

NYK, there's plenty of that around here, as well as all over the country..... world, for that matter!
It's just that, when I saw this, I had so much fear and anger built up inside....... makes me want to hurt someone, ya' know? Maybe the teenager's parents?!!!

Re: I couldn't believe my eyes!
we had a story back in early may in the city school district a teenage girl sexually abused a 5 year old boy while riding the bus...it was on the news and when i heard it i could not believe what i was hearing kind of makes me sick to know what goes on in schools now days
its sad to see or hear stories of tragic things happening to our kids/future because kids are the future guide them with love hope and protect them....and if need be let them learn self defense or some form of martial arts which all teach self defense

Yea it's terrible. And some wounder why the Criminal Justice System is over worked. The only thing we can hope for, is that our parenting skills has prepared our kids to deal with things in a logical and civil manner.

I didnt see it, thanks God, but thinking of this coming up to my life makes me alfuly scared. My kids are going to be 1st grader (son) and K (older doughter) next school year so it's not that close to cry about now, but yet time goes so fast and next thing you see your kids are 10, 11 yrs old......

Re: I couldn't believe my eyes!
We just had a case in Northern Minn., of a 13 year old that beat to DEATH a 3 year old at a day care center. OH yea the three year old hung on in a hospital for like 2 or 3 days, before she died.
