First impressions, how much do they affect you?
When you see a list of members by their usernames, like in the chat lobby, in your mailbox, "who's online, forums, etc...how much effect does their chosen username have on you? Do first impressions count there as well? If you're looking for just no strings attached one nite stands, are you likely to look twice or interact with someone with a username like "romanticman" or "lookingforMrRight", and the opposite, if you are looking for someone or something "special" are you likely to even bother to to interact with members that have usernames like "justsuckitbitch" or "slutcunt" ?

America, as a nation .. I believe has become so caught up in the advertisement thing... a user name is a good example of ppl. just trying to sell themselves... I never could think of a good name for myself that seemed to fit so I just went with my real name , hell I got nothing to hide.. but thats just me, and I'm not really trying to sell myself either...!!!!

I'm only impressed by the first impessions when they make me stand up and take notice but, then, once I get to know them..It becomes very clear what kind of people they are, so yes, external entice but nothing more...I need substance!

For me it's the user name is tool that may or may not get my attention. But the profile photo's is what will keep me cumming back.
As for our little stockade boy, picking on my buddy RC, that's a different story. I guess there is a good reason why Just4 is were he is. I have some things up my sleeve for him. LOL Of course he'd probably like were they'll be placed. LOL

In advertising -and not only- we say "you never get a second chance for a good first impression". I think this is something all of us live with every day! Even here, when you write things about yourself in the profile, you are given the advice to "make the ad short & catchy" which basically translates to "make a good first impression".
I usually check the profiles of people I've seen in the forums or in chat and that's basically out of curiosity, you guys are way too perverted for my taste...

I work in the competitive, sometimes cutthroat world of sales. And first impressions are important, yes.
But they can be superficial too.
MOre often its the 2nd and 3rd contact that really matter.
its important to leave a good impression on the 1st but u dont'have to wow them. do that on the second, third etc.
the first meeting, the first encounter, the first date...they cans set the tone for what is to follow...but i see as more a step in developing somethiing more meaninful and richer.
take sex for example...please do... 
it only gets better from each time forward. the first may be the benchmark but u improve on it each and every time.

I do think that when people chose a username, they should look at it as you said "you never get a second chance for a good first impression"
So many times, it was something about the username (they probably had a bit of their hobby or something worked into it) that made me check out the rest of their profile, and gave me something to work with as far as opening a conversation with them, all just by their chose of an username.
