Superstitions
I had a double yolker this morning when I was cooking breakfast....that's suppose to mean good luck today, right?
Does anyaone follow silly superstitions? Knock on wood, throwing salt over your shoulder?
Even though we know that it's just silly, are there things you do or things that at least cross your mind out of habit in the way of warding off bad karma, wicked spirits and rotten luck?

Re: Superstitions
Myself, am not superstitious....but my mother once stopped and turned around and went another route when a black cat crossed the road in front of her....which was fun because she lived in a mountain area and it added numerous miles to our drive!

Re: Superstitions
I do seem to be adamant about a "gut feeling" or "intuition"...If I just have a bad feeling about something, I will stand my ground and go with it, no matter what anyone else says.

Re: Superstitions
I used to be a little superstitious. My mother in law made me a LOT superstitious now.
Don't step over someone when they're laying on the floor. If you do, step back over them.
If you leave the house and forget something, when you come back to get it, sit down and count to ten before you walk out the door again.
If you walk outside through one door, come back in that same door!!! Pain in the ass when I walk out the front door and end up in the backyard *sigh*
I've got tons of 'em

We have that too, but only when you visit someone's house, you have to leave from the same door you came in.
I'm a knock-on-wood fanatic though... it's completely weird, if I don't knock on wood when something bad crosses my mind I go crazy!!! Nurse!!! Where are my pills!!!

Re: Superstitions
we always honk at crosses in the road - you know, where people have died. kind of paying our respect. i always say "hi" and blow kisses to my uncle whenever i pass the cemetary where he is buried.

like wearing the same pair of socks that they started a lucky streak in?
if you spill salt, you have to pick up a pinch and throw it over your left shoulder...I don't know why, lol.

Re: Superstitions
dont like number 13 of any sort like days, jersey numbers, etc.. whatever the case may be. Broken mirrors scares me. I see a coin on the ground with tails up.. won't pick it up. Spill salt, will shake it over my shoulder. Knock on wood if the conversation at the time makes me need to do such a thing.
Theres a few more like some others have mentioned but cannot remember them at this time.

I have been in a number of high rise building that don't have a 13th floor. I don't know if it's true for all of them though.
