Are you adopted?.....
OK, a fact about myself, I was adopted, and I have always wondered how others felt about being in the same position.....
My view, I was fortunate to be adopted at a very young age, 3 months old......To me, my parents ARE my parents.....I have always known I was adopted, but the only information I know about myself is my nationality......
As I grow older I do wonder about my medical history, unlike when I was younger, when it was a great thing to never have to fill out your history on your medical forms!.....
I can also say that its nice to have my own children, because from my view, I am the top of their family tree!.....It's also nice to look at someone and know that they are a part of you.....I guess in my case more scary than anything else....
I have also NEVERwanted to look for my birth mother.......I just have no interest, but I know some people really do care.....
My question.....If you have been adopted, what kind of things concern you about it?......
And for those of you who weren't feel free to add your opinion...Would love to hear it!....
My biggest issue......Not knowing my medical history

Re: Are you adopted?.....
I wasn't adopted but part of a broken family...I don't know who my mother is and I don't know my heritage...My father will not disclose that time in his life and it is confusing...For me, I am that I am and I start fresh like you.....I have no feelings about it and I only hope that one day I may meet my mother...but, it's about my future that counts...not my past...especially if they aren't there. You are important! Run with that!

Re: Are you adopted?.....
That's my problem...I'm always brutally blunt about things! I do miss my family but, I am alone! I live that way!

Re: Are you adopted?.....
My son comes from a broken family. His father is nowhere around and for the most part, probably will never be either. (that was partially due to my fault but life goes on and I'm taking up over my full 'half' of the responsibility.
Have had long hard decisions about giving my son up for adoption when I was pregnant but couldn't bare the thought of my son calling someone else Mom.
He's frusterating at times but I wouldn't give it up for the world.

Re: Are you adopted?.....
Any child that has atleast 1 parent is a better start the most....He will mature and understand although it may hurt for awhile...I know...I've been there!

I believe all things happen for a reason!

Life makes some strange turns along it's path but as you say I too feel things happen for a reason. Not all people who have kids should be or can be parents, and many who can't have kids turn out to be great parents through adoptions etc. It would be hard not knowing ones history especially any health issues, but it is what makes you you and we all love ya!

Re: Are you adopted?.....
I'm not wholly adopted, like some of you, I do not know my biological father, not even his real name, he stuck around long enough to give me my name, but not his. I was adopted by the man my mother married when I was 9 and that's the name I had for most of my life, till I met Warren.
Do I wonder? Yes, of course I do. I have a whole other history out there, possibly even some brothers, that I may never know!
C'est La Vie, when He is ready for me to know, He will let me. Until then, that doesn't change who I am now, who I am content to be.

I used to tease my sister, (my brother and I were adopted, my sister is natural and the youngest) We used to tell her that she was the one that was adopted( she had red hair, I have blond, my mother had blond, As a matter of fact there are NO redheads in my family).....And to be honest with you, I look at her now, and I can see her Turing into my mother......And at the same time I thank God I will never be like that!.....I love that fact that I am so unique!.....And my family hates the fact that I am my own peson!.....However, I wouldn't change a thing about myself

Re: Are you adopted?.....
Like Pepper, I too, was partially adopted..when I was 5. My step-father turned out to be an . I have not spoken to him in about 20 years. I can honestly say that he is the only person on this earth that I truly hate. But anyway, I have wondered about my real father and if I have ever seen him or talked to him and not known that it was him. I have wondered about my history. It is hard to answer those questions from the kids about my family tree. I think adoption is a wonderful thing...most of the time.

Yes, it does fit very well here! I'm sure you'll find quite a few people here that would be happy to grant you a more private and detailed interview for your paper.
I am not adopted myself, although because of some very major problems in the home, I was pretty much raised by other relatives, and God love them for giving me a piece of normalcy in my otherwise suck ass childhood. All I can say to those who replied here, that even though it may seem the parent or parents didn't care and abandoned you, in a extremely large portion of the parents, they didn't abandoned you out of heartless disintertest, they most likely did not feel worthy or capable of providing a child with the good life they deserved. It's most likely that the parent(s) used coldness and disinterest to hide a lifetime of regret and hurt, and could not live with themselves except for believing that they made the best decision for you.
