I'm going to spend Saturday buying plants for customers. And then if there's time a may get the plants for one customer planted. Maybe I'll actually work in my own yard for a change....

Think we're going to plant about 30 black walnut trees around the property so we don't have to look at our neighbors !!!

Poisoning our water with increased mercury, pesticides, and arsenic.
Selling off our national parks to the highest bidder.
Gutting the Endangered Species Act and its essential protections for wolves, Florida panthers, grizzly bears, and other species struggling to survive.
Outrageously, the list goes on and on. Fortunately, you can do something right now to protect our wildlife and special wild places.

That's just what I was saying, Howler. If we run around outside naked--well, okay, if YOU run around outside naked--then the environment will be definately improved. At least we could see tickets, and raise money for environmental causes. Whaddaya say?

Re: EARTH DAY
I did my part! And I must say, the tree seems VERY satisfied!
Seriously, though.... I was going to do some planting when, low and behold, what do I find on my driveway Friday afternoon? A baby bird that had fallen out of its nest. His sibling didn't fare as well
Anyhow, my weekend was spent taking care of it. He's eating like a pig and growing like a weed! It's either a mockingbird or a dove.

4:32 a.m. He went peacefully. Not sure why.... He was eating good and trying to fly. I would hold him on my fingers in front of me, about 6 or 7 inches away from my chest, and wave my fingers up and down and whistle softly. He would flap his wings and fly, landing on my chest.... then he would nuzzle up under my chin and sleep ..... The good Lord wanted this beautiful creature for a reason, I guess.. but it still hurts like the dickens..... I am sure of one thing, though... He can fly now

All we can do for any and all creatures, is to do our best to make sure they had the best possible life we could give them. It would be much easier not to care, to live cold, but we're accepting that our hearts are gonna be broken thousands of times over.

Re: EARTH DAY
I just lost a 4 day old puppy last night. Noticed yesterday it was smaller than the others, so I intervened and started feeding her supplements. She was in such pain and agony last night, it was hard to hear her little moans and i felt helpless. it's so sad when you try everything and they can't tell you what's wrong or where it hurts. Buried little Peanut in the yard today. Sweet dreams, baby girl.

Since I own a a niche recycling recycling company, I do something everyday for Mother Earth. So far this month, Ive kept 20,000 gallons of used motor oil and 30 tons of recyclable metal out of our landfills.

Good Girl! Went thru the same thing last summer with a young robin. There was a raccoon in the big blue spruce in my yard (at night, good thing I was takin' the trash out) and he/she tore the nest up and one naked, barely pin-feathered little one survived & hit the ground from about 15-20 ft. He (turned out later to have the darker head) hung around all winter and has a Sweety this spring. Can walk up to with 4-5 ft. of him and he just squawks. Raised him on Purina Complete cat chow (moistened with warm water) and little tiny pieces of hard-boiled egg whites (good for me---I like the yokes )---came out fine---he's still hanging out here. Should have a brood or 2 this spring & summer. A good feeling even if he was a pain in the ass sometimes! (Flying around, "white-washing" furniture, etc., my shoulder one time...)
