Re: Are they really who they say they are
Very good advice leighanne....for anyone who makes personal contacts anywhere on the internet.....
At least here, you're not alone, and all of us are willing to make the effort to watch out for each other, and keep the site clean and weeded of the "bad news" types.
Can't repeat it enough, ya all.....keep reporting profiles and messaages....to protect ourselves, to protect others (good people like leighanne) and protect this site that absix and unf work like a dog to give us!!

Re: Are they really who they say they are
you really have to be careful it is so easy to pretend on the computer that is why everyone loves it so much. Just be extremely cautious on here and dont give out any important information about yourself that could potentially put you in harms way. Before meeting anyone i would make sure you know who and what they are and that they are truthful with you. We would hate for anything bad to happen to you anne so just remember to be cautious when meeting someone ( i would hate to spend the rest of my life in jail or having to hunt someone down that harms you anne)

Re: Are they really who they say they are
I am sorry that happened to you - I am as real as they get! Just please make sure you meet in a public area that is very busy until you are completely comfortable with other ideas

Re: Are they really who they say they are
That's why it's soooo important to have many friends here at WebNaughty. They can help you to identify true people serious in meeting you and not the others.

Re: Are they really who they say they are
When it comes time for that face to face meet, you need to keep it in a public place, and with other friends, until you are sure of what you are getting. I know how cunning and manipulative they can be, I have to work with some of the best assholes around. Keep your chin up and you will be fine.

Re: Are they really who they say they are
Very useful advice, may I just add that when you get to meet someone you met on the net, you always inform someone you know on the place and the time and you call them every some time to let them know you're ok.

Re: Are they really who they say they are
These are all great suggestions and I agree with all of them. I've found that meeting for the first time in a public place and whenever possible as a group more comfortable for both parties. There's less tension knowing that either can call it off at anytime. Just MHO

Re: Are they really who they say they are
You got a point. But if you go around in life thinking people are out to get you all the time you are not a socal person anyway and should be on some type of medication, because there are not that many people in this world that are willing to hurt another human being. These people are few and far between. It is just when it happens it is all over the news.It does not happen alot.Just when it does you hear about every single case.

Re: Are they really who they say they are
Oh yea and by the way if it does they will get caught because the FBI will take your cpu if somthing like that happens and get all the info they need off your hard drive.Because everything on your cpu is stored and cannot be erased of your hard drive. You just have to know how to access that stuff.

I would assume that your previous posts where deleted because they were not appropriate......
Kind of like Spring Cleaning

Re: Are they really who they say they are
leighanne I've read and reread your question/experience and have logged out several times but I think you need to hear my recent experience...began chatting with what seemed to be a very nice man...lonely, problems at home, truck driver who had been away from home for sometime, etc...we had talked for a few weeks and exchanged info..then he turned into psycho trucker...after a few ph calls I knew something wasn't right so I asked that he not contact me again...a few days later I began to receive ph calls starting at 4am from strange men telling me that my friend had given them my #....I made the decision to contact the authorities when he denied any involvement...very embarrassing to have to take copies of emails, etc but I quite frankly was afraid..I had no idea who was calling or if they would show up at my door and it pissed me off that he would put me...my family...and my grandkids in any type of danger.
They asked if I thought he would admit it if I contacted him...so I did and he did admit it in writing...since then my ph# has been changed but I still am looking out the window when a strange car passes by.
I knew better so be careful..use common sense..now my advice to anyone with a sad story is to see a shrink...I don't have my license yet or a couch.
And never doubt for one minute that your friends here at wn don't care about you...special thanks to Chazzy and Abs
