What is love?
An emotion you can not control,or is it?
A maincourse meal that taste suculent, exquizit
It transforms you ,conforms to you,it can rejuvinate make you feel brand new
A limitless emotion the true definition the feeling you get from it can be quit shrude
It doesent come with a lable or instructions how to use.
The heart break the sorrow,it can sow missery to the soul
We can never get immune to this rolercoaster high we cannot control
The only cure, listen to your feelings, let the mysterious mind altering program run its toll

Re: What is love?
My opinion on LOVE
When someone truly respects you......
Listens to you...and I mean not just listen, but understands what your saying and can remember it months down the road.....
One who makes you feel gitty every time you think about them, whether the first day, or years down the road.....
One that doesn't judge you NO matter what!
One that you can trust!
And one that is nothing but honest with you!......
Im sure there are a lot more things that add to that, but those are the ones I can think of that I have felt when I have "loved" someone!....
I am one that believes that you get what you give......

Re: What is love?
Ok guys this tread brought me to tears of sadness and of joy.......this is what I know of TRUE LOVE
True love rests the heart from turmoil, finds the heart relaxed and happy and provides warmth and peace to the soul.
True love is humbled love. Humble people make the best mates! Their own humility is the foundation for their ability to love.
True love is wanting to be honest at all times! This is the only way true love survives. Honesty builds trust. Trust is the backbone to a good marriage! Without trust you cannot let yourself be yourself. If trust fails, everything can fall apart.
True Love is a "giver". Each partner realizes the needs of one another, and wants to give it to each other. Unselfish partners know they must love each other with a servant attitude.
True love for another always wants what is best. Jealousy or envy does not enter into the heart because true love cares only to see the other be the best they can be!
True love is never hurried, always takes the time to see through every situation. True love waits for each other, no matter what, for what ever, and........whenever.

Re: What is love?
Love is a choice. It's based on all of the things you've all listed already but we choose to love or not to love. Women who have been abused by their husbands and boyfriends, still choose to love them. When we've been in a bad relationship and decide to put it behind us and move on, we have choosen to let love go. just my opinion...

Re: What is love?
My opinion: there are many kinds of love...love of simple pleasures, the love you feel for your kids/grandkids, the love you share with your spouse, although it may be one sided more often than not...and then if you are one of the fortunate ones in this world...the totally mind boggling kind of love you find when you least expect it.
May be with an old friend or a new acquaintance. Take the time to get to know this person, get to know their dreams, listen to their thoughts and wants, share yours with them and watch what happens.
You may soon find yourself having trouble concentrating on much of anything but this person, making life changing decisions together, etc...don't be afraid to dream and more important...don't be afraid to reach for that special someone to share your dreams

So True. I thought I knew true love for 20 years. It was ripped from my heart, stomped into the mud. I found what I now know is true love. Alcohol took her in it's grip, made her cheat, lie and steal. It's been almost 2 years now. I am still reduced to tears, with every thought of her. Nothing can compare to real, true love. It grips you, when you least expect it , it finds you, you dont find it . it slips into your heart, takes you away.you are not in control. you cant make it come to you , cant force it on someone else . But it is too beautiful a feeling for words to describe. I can only hope and dream , it comes my way again. Life is to lonely and cruel to face alone , after you know absolute true love . you are all such great people here . I would have never met any of you , had my love not gone away. all things happen for a reason, some we dont or cant understand . thank you all for being here, being my friends .

Re: What is love?
I've never been one to experience love and I can see through others that its a wonderful thing. Sometimes don't think it's for me as it might be too much but someday it might just kick me in the ass before I know it. I know love should be one to just let happen but also is something you have to kind of work at to keep the trust, communications, all kinds of emotional stuff up on the table and I know firsthand, I'm not good with emotions and try to avoid it at all costs which might not be a good thing. Like I said... I see it as a good thing and just love hearing how he swept you off your feet or how you were asked to be married, and any other kind of love/sappy stories, etc.. just makes me feel good inside knowing someones feeling loved.

Re: What is love?
Ok, I'll get serious (but that's the last time, ok?)... I think that love is when you've spent some time with a person and you reach the point when you say "I believe I know him/her". You know the advantages and the good qualities, but you also know and you've seen the bad stuff. However, you want to be with this person despite of the bad, you have accepted, rationalized, analized this person inside you and still... you can't imagine your life without this person... simply because... you love this person...

Re: What is love?
"simply because"...I like that response Peter Pan...
simply because I put my fear of being hurt aside and reached out to a man who understood thoses fears
simply because I chose happiness
simply because I chose a future filled with love and understanding
simply because we don't have to say one word to know what the other is thinking
simply because a gentle touch of the hand is all that's necessary to communicate how important I am to this person
simply because we have so much in common
simply because this man's happiness is the most important thing to me
That's love...simply because

Re: What is love?
BC - it took me 12 years to really feel love. I thought I loved when I got married, but I was so young and desperate. I had so much baggage to overcome - but it can happen eventually - I am living proof!!
