Our misspent youth....
How would you describe yourself during your early adolescent years of "wonder and awareness"?
Maybe a freak, incorrigible delinquent, the village "easy" girl or the morally superior virgin, the guy your mother warned you about or the guy that had your mother and the rest of your family completely fooled....
The student with potential for the fortune 500, the social activist, a prom queen, cheerleader, hall monitor, band geek? Were you American Idol material before there was an American Idol? A Jock, comedian,....
Describe yourself as you were then....

Re: Our misspent youth....
here we go...
considering how small my school was when growing up, I was the sweet miss innocent, do everything right kind of girl. I was a big teacher's pet especially for one of my favorite teacher (who passed away few years ago due to terminal illness.. bless her heart). Every semester I was on the Honor Roll (up until my senior year), and kinda was in a competition sort of thing with this boy in my class and I'd out rank him because of the spelling test. *That was my secret to success.. ha!*
Was never into sports during the school year because I disliked Basketball but went ahead and played anyways just so I could keep in shape (that was for my benefit), and besides, the small school thing again, there was only so many of us girls and my friends wanted to play so bad. In the meantime, throughout the summer all through elementary, middleschool, to the end of my senior year I played softball. Main reason I had to quit was that I can't run for the life of me.
My favorite thing out of hs at my old school before I transferred to my hometown school.. was I had a friend be my prom date.. good lookin guy , had my hair all fixed up, done right, etc... beautiful prom dress, etc. I was just lookin to have a good time, etc. Time comes for the prom king/queen announcements. One of my childhood friends was there too, and was wanting desperately to be the queen. I'm just minding my own bees wax.. talking, etc.. and my friends turned to me and said, "You won!! go go go!" I was like huh? Not expecting whatsoever to be a prom queen ever but was like sweet.. i can handle this. Remember my childhood friend... she didn't handle it the greatest... she was pretty upset about it all.
After transferring to my hometown school... I turned into a rebel... mom and I had quite a few disputes and I moved a few times up until I got pregnant.. and that was my eye-opener and have been in the same postion since.

Great reply, BC!!
It shows the contrast of the qualities you've always had, and the changes you've gone through.
And the prom queen story, is just too cool!

Re: Our misspent youth....
One memorable moment that stands out in my mind from high school was when I had to wear a sport jacket , dress shirt and tie to school because I had an interveiw for a job afterwards...Now I always looked older than I really was so it came as no surprise that a freshman girl mistook me for a teacher... lol.. Well let's just say that I taught a few classes in human anatomy that day... lol...

Re: Our misspent youth....
Hard to remember that far back. I was one those who flew under the radar. I was not in any click, but got along with everyone. In high school my nick name was narc, as I was on the sheriff's cadet program. And yes had to throw some class mates into jail. I later found out that I was one of the most respected kids in class. I was the one you girls parents wanted to bring home. Virgin until after high school, late bloomer, but have made up that. After high school military for short stint. All in all, pretty dull dude. Only sports was in middle school, football, basketball, tennis.

Re: Our misspent youth....
In school I was friends with just about everyone... jocks, geeks, cheerleaders... etc...
I was a bit of a peacemaker, so to speak. I didn't like it when people were being made fun of. I stuck up for the underdog.
I was a hellion tomboy at home, though. My parents made me carry my own first aid kit everywhere I went (j/k lol.. they should've, though). Rode my dirt bike or my horse from dawn till dusk... whichever one I felt like taking off on that day. Played football with the guys. Would catch snakes with my brothers. I snuck out of the house a few times... dated guys that my brothers would've castrated if they knew.
One thing stayed constant throughout my life. I've always loved my family and animals. I've always believed that "family" is the most important thing in the world!

Re: Our misspent youth....
I too was from a very small HS - and I really try to forget most of it. I was quiet and shy, had one very close friend and was considered a goody-two-shoes, everything had to be done the right way. I grew up different from everyone as my parents divorced in JH and that was just not "normal" and after that I lived in a home with no elec. or running water - which was also not "normal". I craved love and fell in love with a bad boy from smoker's corner the summer before my senior year. We got preggo on purpose so we could marry as parents would not let us when I was 16. Married in March, Grad. in May, Baby in June. We will be celebrating our 19th anniversary TOMORROW!!!!!
