Re: 12/7
I remember seeing the footage on tv and learning about this in school. I noticed that this isn't shown as much as it should be either.

Re: 12/7
For some reason, of which I'm not aware of...I like learning about military history. I love spend time listening to veterans of wars, and they love to tell the stories, but always claim that no one wants to hear them, no one is interested. I want to believe that if everyone listened to their accounts of their experience, that we would see how horrific a war is, to know exactly what we send our children into, and imbedded that into our culture, that somehow, that may mean less wars and conflicts. But, hey that's just not gonna happen.
(I'm not gonna specifically mention more about this date, don't wanna ruin the chance that some will be curious, do a search, and take a minute to read a little about this day in history)

Re: 12/7
My Grandfather served as a navigator in an fighter plane. He did not like to discuss it at all. For a school project children sent letters to Vets and Grandpa did reply, we all have a copy of that letter. He passed away in June of 2004 during a nap between lawn mowing sessions.

I think that more people should look into this and other wars as well. If for no other reason to find the REAL reason for is starting. WW1 and WW2 were rather obvious. Others aren't do simple. Personally, I have been facinated by the weaponry and the machines of WW2. It was a truly develomental time for this country. Many of these inventions became civilian use in one for or another.

I so agree, and I think we should seek out and be open to information about our involvement in wars, and this country's history in general. The text books I remember in school glossed over every historical event and made it seem like every famous American was a hero, a noble and brave leader beyound reproach,or a brilliant inovator or scienctist ingenue who advanced our civilization so far above all other civilizations, each and all of them motivated only by God, family, and country....Geez, they really drilled that shit into us too, large framed poster copies of their portraits hung high above us, bigger than life, pushed to memorize all the aspects of their pure hearts, unbreakable ethics, their sacrifices for the sake of high morals, and only to find out that, in fact, history was rewritten to be favorable so the young impressionable will grow up accepting blind patriotism.
