Re: Tis the Season
This Christmas will be with friends and no family..It's a circumstance thing.
I usually cut a tree from a stand that needs thinning then drag it down from the hills...It's a Charlie brown Christmas every year in my house, but I'll cut some extra limbs and take a cordless drill. I drill holes in the trunk, and trim the end of the branch ,and insert them where they are needed.
White christmas almost always ends up on the TV..Along with whatever they are airing that year on BCTV
Lots of Christmas baking from all the friends and family, and many German christmas dishes.
..And we always have Eggnog, with this orange booze thats from Hungary, but I can't remember the name of it.
I used to make small boxes ,and small furniture for gifts in the past to practice joinery....But now I just buy them because I don't have time.
Some of them I even attempted chip carving a medallion in the lids, and have become family heirlooms of sorts.
Little Drummer Boy is one of my favorites..And Alan Jacksons Christmas CD is stuffed into my truck for all of December.
I started putting up Christmas lights on my house a few years back...The only other light display around here is the Northern Lights, and they've been dancing a pretty good tune for the last week.
As for building a snowman....The snow is to damn dry here and won't stick together...But everybody will shovel a clearing and run a garden hose out, and make a skating or hockey rink.
As for festivities, we are a Ranching community, and it's cold outside...There are more parties than a Cowboy could ever hope to attend.
Oh!..And if anyone needs a Christmas gift idea for me....I'm told I may need a new kickstand for my bike.

Re: Tis the Season
We have a fake tree, I put it up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down in Jan.
Shows, The grinch, Rudolph all the old cartoon shows, We have been watching a bunch on ABC family network.
We do a pot luck style of food here, nothing special, use to be my Grandmas rice pudding.
Not much goes on around here, some places decorate a lot and even have area to drive through. closest big display is in Duluth, they have a big area of lights. But that is still a good distance from me.
To many favorite Christmas songs to pick one. And Sy I have a Coupleof Alan Jackson they are great.
We do a lot of homemade gifts, that is how we have been raised. I am now teaching my Grandson that, he makes most of the gifts he gives, starting him youngHe made everyone gifts last year and this year. not bad for a 6 year old.
Not enough snow here for a snowman, it will be gone by next week at this rate. it is suppose to be in the 40's next week.
