All you music lovers.
I was watching a show about piano playing. It was these two guys explaining the different styles and how to play them and really breaking it down from the most basic to the most complex. They played something and explained if you wanted it to "sound country" to play it one way and if you were looking for a more "Jazz" type of sound do something else and then demonstrated that.I tend to like learning stuff like that.
I always played a kind of game with my kids in the car when we would be on long trips. We would put some music on many times classical but not always.(Yes I know what a dork! We like classical music) Anyway... we would then break down the different parts trying to guess what instrument that was playing something. Some were obvious some were not. Some radio stations would explain it so it would confirm if we got things right or not. Then we would talk about what we liked or didn't etc...
So while I was watching I kept thinking "Wow, piano looks so difficult to me. You have to have your two hands doing completely different things and your feet also have to use the pedals at the same time. Then I decided how ridiculous that was because I used to play guitar and thought , "Duh! I had to do different things with each of my hands at the same time so why would I think piano harder?" Just to clarify I played classical guitar but NOT WELL!
Okay, my questions to you guys are...Do you think one instrument in particularly hard to play than another and why? And do you like breaking down music as well? Do you have an instrument you just love or hate the sound of? Is there an instrument you play and is there one you still would love to learn? Do you think a certain style of music or instrument is harder to play than another. Example there are several ways to play a guitar and several types of guitars. Some people play strictly acoustic, some electric, some 6 sting, some 12 string there are some that some people refer to as pickers and strummers. Steel strings and nylon strings. I think you get the idea.
