Re: black friday
I stay away from all stores this week and this weekend. Is it me or have people become more nasty and violent when "shopping"?

Re: black friday
A few of the American chain retailers have started "Black Friday" up here but they've not got the response they are used to in the U.S.
We Canadians are an unagressive bunch when it comes to spending money, we'll even say thank-you to a bank machine....unless of course it's buying porn, coffee, or beer.
We'll elbow a senior citizen out of the way for any one of those.

Re: black friday
I am normally done way before this time of year. However having my kid get married and being out of town for the past month didn't help . I'm not done. I hate shopping with the crazies on this holiday weekend. I have to admit even though I am sick and wanted to just crawl into bed and stay there I did go out yesterday (Thanksgiving day). I did go for specific things and It was not much busier than normal. No lines and good prices. I got exactly what I went for and a few things I needed but was putting off due to money but the prices were ridiculous so I picked them up. I was done and home in about 2 hours. If I were feeling better and didn't have to deal with one store employee that just seemed more confused than knowledgeable, I would have been home in about 20-30 minutes less. I only have to get a few more gifts then I'm done shopping. The only reason I didn't get them is because I have no idea what to buy the few people I still need to get gifts for. I am also making gifts for almost everyone on my list as well so am still working on those. Again, I would be closer to being done if I had more time the last few months and if I felt better now but, I think I will get them all done in time. I like making gifts but I don't like feeling pressure to get them done. This is the first time I feel pressured in all the years I have made gifts. If I can't get them done I will change what i am doing for some and bake and/or do baskets for those people.I HAVE A PLAN! Ha..ha..

I do have a new John Deere on my wishlist, but you may have a hard time fitting it in my gift basket....But no pressure.

Re: black friday
A terrible idea that is leaching into the UK too, summed up by the following quote:
"People trampling each other in a stampede of greed exactly one day after giving thanks for what they already have"

Re: black friday
The two hours on Thanksgiving day was enough for me, even though the stores were empty. Online is the best. Besides the flu made sure I stay in bed.To bad there is no fun to be had in my bed at this time.
