Re: Our New York Friends
Where this storm is is about an 11+ hour drive from where my house is. It is cold and some flakes but that's it by my house. I am not actually there.I was in Florida for my sons wedding then Kam and I went to Louisiana for a few weeks where he has been working for his company, before we both go back to our normal homes for Thanksgiving.Thank you for your concern. It has even been cold here. I understand that it is normal around 70's this time of year here and the people who live here are not happy with temps in the 20's at night and early morning.I know in Michigan where Kam lives is cold! But not as bad as where they are having all the storms and he doesn't get the crazy storms that they get by the great lakes. At least he doesn't get them often.I still wonder why people live there voluntarily.6 feet of snow and they are saying they are getting another 3 feet!!! That's crazy.

I've been working outside because of the warm weather....I had no idea it was so bad back East.
I was in my shirt all day cutting logs into 6x6 timbers and broke out in a sweat...I considered putting on my Cuban shorty pants to cool off.

Re: Our New York Friends
In all seriousness,it is crazy what the people that live in these areas are going through. There was a woman who went into labor. They had to dig her out if her home, then put her on some equipment with tracks, then transfer her to snowmobile, and finally hot her into an ambulance where she delivered a baby in less than 5 minutes after she was put in there. Can u just imagine the story this kid will be telling years from now..."Well it all started when we got 9 feet of snow....." I can hear people saying yeah 9 feet...how much did u really get?Don't you just hate when guys exaggerate...."

Shee-it. 8 feet in a 24 hour period. I was outta touch for a few days, but managed to get out of it with nothing more than a sprained wrist - so far

You gotta be used to cramped fingers, blisters and a sprained wrist by now ?
Take care of yourself Free, 8 feet of snow is a shitshow no matter where you live...and delivering a woman in labour to the emergency room ,with a snowmobile isn't so unusual....is it?

I know up here ...when there is that much snow, which is almost every year, they call it "break-up" because it is so dramatic.

Re: Our New York Friends
Well, after 8 feet a couple of days ago, it got up to 66 here today and can see spots of grass peeking through. Roofs are caving in all over the place, schools are still closed because of worries of roof safety and kids getting on buses because of the heights of piled up snow. I went out to help a guy on a bobcat the other night because where he was clearing out, there was a garage door that was going to cave in from the weight of the snow. While I was helping him, my feet hit black ice and went flat on my back. Smashed the back of my head on the blacktop and slid on my back down the driveway. Blew out my back and badly sprained both wrists. I'm also pretty sure that I saw my building on TV. Completely leveled. I still dont know because even when the driving ban was lifted, I couldn't drive because of my wrists. I'm hoping to find out tomorrow. Now we have 65 MPH winds. I'm guessing Mother Nature ran out of batteries

Sprained wrist? I'd have thought that would be the last part to go, given all the conditioning it's had over the years...

Re: Our New York Friends
OMG Free!!! I feel like mother nature has been making her rounds the past few years and testing different regions. Tornado's like never before seen in some regions, rain and floods, fires, mudslides, hurricanes, crazy snow and ice storms. It's like something out of a science fiction movie.I am shocked that people don't see this and get the fact that maybe the scientists are right. Between what happens naturally and what we as humans have done to this planet mother nature is a mess. OR...Maybe she is going through her changes...I wonder? Okay, Maybe she is just as they have always said A BITCH!
Please be careful and take care of you. Hopefully insurance will take care of the rest.Don't just blow off your injuries thinking you will get better with time. Make sure you get checked out to make sure you didn't do something bad in that fall. You know I am speaking from experience.Sending love and good thoughts your way.

Re: Our New York Friends
Hey Free, there is one good thing that comes out of this. When you get snow from now on and they say "Expect 12 to 18 inches of snow" you can just laugh and say "That's nothing. We have had worse and survived it. Bring it on BITCH!"
Prospective changes when things like this happen.

Thats funny because I did exactly that last week. The noreaster that was blowing up the east coast was forcasted to be dropping exactly what you said and I thought "So what's the big deal about that?"
