I Think I'm Gonna Do It
Too many songs, too much ambition, too few years left.
I aint gettin any younger, so I think I'm moving to Music City and trying to sell my stuff. Headin to Nashville. I cant take New York any more.

Re: I Think I'm Gonna Do It
Well brother, you ask me how I can live here, and I wonder how can you live in New York...I look forward to hearing about your new life, and what it's like for you to go country.
May your boots be black , your song writing be from the heart, and your buckles be gold,...just like the records your about to produce.

You may want to talk to Aaron and Rocco about the Nashville experience.

Yeah, but they're performers, which I am not. I just wanna pitch some tunes.
However, as good as this sounded yesterday when I made up my mind to do it, I'm getting a boatload of backlash about it around here

That happened to me as well when I told my family I was moving to the boondocks...They will after time get used to the idea ,and accept it.
Your kids are raised, you took care of your commitments, time to look after your own heart.

Yeah, but they're performers, which I am not. I just wanna pitch some tunes. Nashville is the perfect place. that's how Old Dominion started out.

Re: I Think I'm Gonna Do It
Hey Free, Sorry I have been a bit busy so I have missed a lot about whats going on. I just read you posts.
First I want to say that of course you have cold feet you just had 6 feet of snow. I would imagine everything in you body is cold!
I have a friend that got into selling music to the Nashville guys and he didn't move there but that was a personal decision and he also has the ability to travel back and fourth whenever he needs to.You know enough about the music world to know that the location isn't the most important part but it can help a bit.You still need to get your songs in the right peoples hands. And the right people need to hear them. If moving to Nashville is something you want to do then just go for it!But go for the right reasons. Don't let anyone talk you out if it. But don't go thinking it will be the thing that will make the whole difference with your music. Expectations should always be realistic or you wind up disappointed. If you go in with realistic expectations and it winds up better then that's a great thing.Look how many people move to NY or LA to become a star. It doesn't mean you don't have talent . It doesn't mean anything except that you have not had that lucky second that the right person was in the right place yet.I am not a music expert. I happen to know a few people that were lucky in the music field. They will all tell you that there are thousands of great musicians and song writers that just have not gotten there moment. Same goes for sports and any other thing that has only the few lucky ones that get picked.
So my advice is if you are going to move to Nashville go for the right reasons. Go because you love it and you want to change your lifestyle. Even if you don't get that big break will you still love it? I would not want you to go and be unhappy. You still have to live our life.I just had a friend make a huge move. So many told her she was crazy. I knew why she moved and knew she truly loved the area for over 25 years. I knew she would be happy. She final decided to do something for herself. Her children had grown and gone off to college. Her husband had passed away man years ago and she really had no reason she HAD TO be here anymore. She is so happy in her new life that she is now wondering why she waited so long.Just make sure you are going for the right reasons.
