miss me yet?
Probably nobody noticed, but I haven't logged on WN for awhile. Really, I haven't, I'm not kidding. My dad has some health issues that I needed to focus on for awhile. Some of is from his own doing, some of it from the unpleasant truth about time. Some of you may remember he had a mild heart attack 4 yrs ago. 6 months later his doctor told him he had melanoma. Since the surgeries and radiation to fix those little problems, he's done pretty good until last year , it was getting harder and harder for him to walk, and eventually reached a point just getting to the car was almost more than he could stand. I'd been telling him for months to get it fixed.I told him its ridiculous to suffer that much pain when the technology exists to fix the problem. He finally got a new knee &
it helped him walk again. Unfortunately before mom & I convinced him to get the new knee, he'd been compensating a bad knee with his hip. Now his other knee went to hell... once again he kept saying he was too old to worry about repairs. I said you're not to old to fix anything until your dead.makes no sense to suffer if they can fix it. So 3 weeks ago he got a new knee. He worked hard for 75 years.. simply put... now at 89 yrs old.. his body is wore out.But before surgery & since I have been making his home more "user friendly"... hand rails in the shower & toilet.. added a bedroom downstairs so he wont have to climb stairs.. and mom bought him a reclining chair that will virtually lift him up into a standing position with the push of button
So hopefully he can live a more comfortable life now, and my life can resume its normal programming...
I'm not totally convinced that our "GOLDEN YEARS" will be all that wonderful
Anyway I'm back now.. I think
.. kinda... maybe... sorta

Re: miss me yet?
And I thought you had gone on one bitchin' fly fishing trip.
I admire the fact that you took the time and effort for your Dad, and the improvements will make it easier on your Mother as well.
.....and we did notice you hadn't been around, and you were missed ..Shithead.

Re: miss me yet?
I've thought about you often, I figured you were busy with something important it would be a matter of time before we heard from ya.
You've been sorely missed!
I do hope your Dad is comfortable now.

A few years ago a person could pick up those early Colts for peanuts.....not so much anymore, but I do have an original .32 ball and cap pocket pistol.
If a guy only knew the future.
They say the next decent investment is early lever action Winchesters....I got that covered.

Re: miss me yet?
I haven't been around that much myself but I have noticed when I do jump on that I have not seen anything from you in a while. We are not all as heartless as some would think. We actully think about others on occasion. I am glad to hear your dad is doing better. My mom is getting older and I am starting to deal with some of the issues you have to face when you have an older parent. Stubbornness is her biggest issue (I can't imagine where I get it from.) I try to remind myself that I will be in her shoes some day. I guess they don't like facing the reality of having to need help when they have been independent so long. And NO ONE likes surgery so I get why he put it off as ling as he could. At least he is doing better now.
It was nice to see you back on.
