A & E Live by Requests...
i watched John Mellencamp's 2004 performance on the show, and right near the end, the second to last song to be exact, the caller was from Kamloops...she requested her song, and started to say sometihng else, and he cut her off by starting the song before she was even finished speaking. dont know if it was because oif the time restraints, or because he's an asshole. i mean i do enjoy his music very much, he's been a huge influence on me. but after watching thos performance, and VH1's Storytellers performance by him...i've realized that he's kind of an ass. he's got a bad personality. but i still will always love his music.

I love Mellencamp's music, and he does come across as a little arrogant, or self centered....but in his defence.. people from Kamloops tend to talk too much.

Maybe he was having a bad day, bad moment...

His nick name is Little Bastard for a reason. I love his music and have patterned my writing style after his, but the guy can be a total dickhead.

Most people forget that just because someone has talent that doesn't mean they are not people like the rest of us. I have said a million times why I would not want to be famous.Sometimes it's just because people hold famous people on a pedestal and then get mad when that talented person doesn't live up to what you have built them up to be in your head. He might have had a bad day or might just be a jerk. I don't listen to his music based on his personality. I will admit that there is a reason I sometimes DON'T want to know about these peoples lives. I agree with Chazzy that sometimes when I find out that a talented person is a jerk or whatever, it kind of sticks in my head and ruins the song of whatever for me just a little bit. It's like Cat Steven's, I really enjoyed some of his music. Then he got very political and changed his name and got MORE political.Now I don't listen to his music because it became more about his political views than his music.He is only one example and his is an extreme example so it was an easy one to use. But there are many others like that.

I was Personal Security for 24 hours for Tanya Tucker, and this old guy was outside the gate, standing there for 10 hours waiting for an autograph from her.
We drove by him 4 times, and I informed her that he had politley asked once, and I told him that I would tell her.
The fourth time we drove by him , I reminded her that he'd stood there for about ten hours...and I'd happily walk out her autograph to him.
Her response was..." Your job is to stay with me ,and keep assholes like that away....If you walk out there to that loser, the only thing your going to tell him is to.. Fuck Right Off !"
At the end of my shift...She said "See you tomorrow for the ride to the airport." I said " Dont count on it "
