Labor Day
The first Labor Day was held in 1882. Its origins stem from the desire of the Central Labor Union to create a holiday for workers. It became a federal holiday in 1894. Originally intended that the day would be filled with a street parade and a festival.
One of the reasons for choosing to celebrate this on the first Monday in September was to add a holiday in the long gap between Independence Day and Thanksgiving.
Some neighborhoods organize fireworks displays, barbecues and public arts, music, or sports events.
Labor Day is a day of rest for many people.
I will be working as will many of us.

Something I did not know....
Similarly, it is the custom to wear a straw cowboy hat from Memorial Day until Labor Day, then a felt one until Memorial Day comes around again.
May 1 is Lei Day in Hawaii, where celebrations include lei-making competitions, concerts, as well as giving and receiving leis to friends and family.
Yes, we all need a good LEI... or two!

I'll pass on giving a Lei to a family member....but there's a friend or two that deserves a good lay...I mean Lei from me.
I didn't know the custom about the cowboy hats.We have an unwritten custom along the same lines in Canada, you wear Long Johns, or thermal underwear, from Halloween to Easter.
except to bed...Thats were the size appropriate thermal mass girlfriend,or temporary feminine bedwarmer comes into effect.

the wife wears them flannel the same, wont be long when she will be diging them out to sew up or I have to buy her new ones.... then try getting laid...
