Sasquatch Tracks !
The local RCMP just left here a few hours ago, and it seems that some local Native Indians , that do not have the inclination to breed their own horses, thought it would be a good idea to harvest some wild ones.
There is a small herd of them above me, and they are a relative branch of the herd we call Tunkwa. So these guys thought it would be a good idea to use some 60 year old wild horse trap corrals ,over in Black Dome meadows.
The RCMP stated to me that after rounding up 11 horses, they went to retrieve their truck and trailer, and found the truck had five flat tires, this included the spare, under the box.
It seems when they rode their horses out 16 kilometers to get a cell signal, and to let friends know to bring 4 new tires, someone or something had cut the perfectly good lariat that tied the trap corral gate shut.
The horses had been released.
When I asked the attending officer, who is a friend of mine, why he was here at my Ranch telling me this awful news..He replied " Those Natives said there were size 13 or 14 boot tracks around their truck " he indicated the size with both his hands...he went on to say ,that they had said " They were the size of a Sasquatch !"
So I asked him again..."Why are you telling me this ?" and yes, I was smiling.
He said " I'm just informing you, as a local resident and for your own saftey, that there could be a Sasquatch in the area, that wears Red Wing work boots"
Stupid big clown feet.

This explains everything! A couple of weeks ago I chaperone my son's class trip to an area fun park . Sasquatch was there, I HAD to have a picture taken with him, when I stood next to him he wrapped himself arms around me, along with a leg in a rather sexual manner . . . I do believe he had Red Wings on. Mystery solved as to the Horny Sasquatch. LOL

This Neandrathal puts them out...for the most part.
Lets not talk about the time I drove the Fire Attack truck away from the fuel cell with the nozzle still in the tank.
Thank God there was already a forest fire burning, and I could blame it on a burning stick sent from a fire vortex.
I only did that mistake twice.

Re: Sasquatch Tracks !
So I went grocery shopping the other day, and it seems an old elder had passed away in the Hat Creek Indian Reserve and the locals were shopping for food for his memorial.
I mean the place was packed with First Nations.
They usually last 3 to 5 days, so they have to feed everyone.
Man ,I've never recieved so many dirty looks in one day, and Pale Face comments !....And I thought I was getting a good tan.
Although nobody is bothering the Wild Horses....I think I may avoid the local bars for a year or two.

It's not good to piss off the natives believe me they hold grudges.... And they get angrier than hornets... I know because I have seen it... My great great grandmother was Cherokee so the whole pale face comment makes me laugh ... Brings back memories of her grumbling about her neighbors and even grandpa on occasion when he didn't know when to close his mouth....

Yeah ...My ex-wife..or what I used to call the Plaintiff, was half Swedish ,half Kanasatake Mowhawk...When they are hungry, I look the other way when they take a Steer of mine.
Most of them are respectful of me and my place, and they call me Matoo Topay.
We understand each other, and some do fear me because of my past, and some marks I have, and they know I will draw a line, and not move..
The place face comment did make me smile, and I am a Wachie..or White man , so no harm done.
They knew before hand that nobody messes with the wild horses above my place...They crossed that line.
Thank you for your concern..The Cherokee are a magnificent people.

They sell some for Bronc riding stock to Rodeo outfits...The older ones are butchered for dog food....They are also very few in number in the 50's and 60's they numbered in the hundreds, and they are mine to look after.
I will run hay up to them when the snow is deep, and cut holes in the ice.
Around here their average life span ,due to the rugged steep terrain, -40 winters, Wolves and Mountain lions is 12 years old.
The Wild horse hunters will shoot the lead Mare , or run her to death with snowmobiles, than capture the herd.
They then grade them in the trap corral, keep and distribute the ones they deem worthy of living, and destroy the rest.
I find it arrogant...And I don't like arrogant behaviour in a man.

That is arrogant I agree with you there.... What tribe is it? They want respect then they have to improve their behavior... I understand that it's tradition and has been done for years in some cases but there is a line and killing the lead mare is way to far...that breaks my heart that someone could do that...

Re: Sasquatch Tracks !
The tribe doesn't matter, they all do it here.
Just to be clear there are plenty of Caucasian people that do it as well, but it seems the First Nations deem it a sport and part of their culture, even though the Horses have only been in British Columbia for 150 years.
The horses are not protected by law like yours in the U.S., they are labeled as farrel , and not to many years ago there was a bounty on them.
Most Ranchers want every blade of grass for their stock, so they look the other way.
Forestry wants to be rid of them , and keep it quiet due to public outcry and disapproval.
They are ignored, and outcast, and their friends are few.
I see them as a symbol of freedom, they broke away from the fragile hold man had on them, and against all odds, survived.

Hey do you just like being in a jam all the time? What do they call it where you like to torture your self, you have it.
Most of the wild horses we worked in prison went to the border patrol both north and south. Some turned into good cow horses and some went to private refuges. The one i rode all the time "curly" he was a gas he was a natural comedian. I would pony the studs out of the chuetes for castration. They never pulled him over and lot tried.
See what your illagetament son pulled this time. You need to have talk with your boy. OCB
